best foundation?

talk to me about the best foundation you have tried? I have heard mixed reviews about chanel lumiere so don't know whether to take the plunge and try it too? I don't like foundation that looks like it has been caked on but would prefer medium rather than light coverage. Any reccomendations?

What's your skin type? How old are you? I love Diorskin Nude.

rusmum · 22/01/2011 17:45

estee lauder double wear! my must have

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/01/2011 17:52

MAC pro longwear or Yves St Laurent Radiant Touch

sh77 · 22/01/2011 21:55

Chanel vitalimiere is fab. Chanel has launched a lighter version of it though the original one is light. New one is a bit more matte.

maize · 22/01/2011 22:30

Diorskin Nude or Lancome Teinte Miracle

maize · 22/01/2011 22:31

Double wear v.heavy but Double wear light might be ok for you? I found the Double wear light to be very orange for my pale skin and still quite heavy.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, MAC mineralising foundation or go for tinted moisturisers - Laura Mercier is a classic, Chantecaille do a great one too. You could try mineral make up as an alternative?

moragbellingham · 23/01/2011 21:13

How about My Face/My Mix from larger Boots.
I like it more than Diorskin nude and Teint Miracle.
Mac is good for coverage and I tried the LM tinted moisturiser today and thought it was very, very nice.

Another vote here for Estee Lauder Double Wear Light! And I have pale skin.

CDMforever · 23/01/2011 22:17

Love Max Factor Second Skin. Had lots of lovely comments about my skin recently.

cabbageroses · 23/01/2011 22:29

Clinique Repair Wear. Not a dewy finish but light and good coverage and lasts well.

firsttimemum77 · 24/01/2011 16:49

Givenchy - perfect honey!
Just discovered it and it's perfect for me.

Granard · 24/01/2011 21:53

By Terry Eclat Opulent - fab!

Or Chantecaille Future Skin. Almost as fab.

itsalarf · 24/01/2011 22:04

MyFace/My Mix is ggod. Light and glowy and not too ££

chandellina · 24/01/2011 22:12

how do you work out what shade to get??

Schnullerbacke · 24/01/2011 22:14

So the next question is, how to put it on. I do exfoliate but have large pores and you can always tell that its on. I do apply sparingly but it just doesnt look nice on my skin.

Any ideas?

itsalarf · 24/01/2011 22:28

You need to get out in the daylight. Take a small mirror with you. Put some on your jawline or just above and go outside. See how well the colour disappears into your skin.

ullainga · 25/01/2011 06:40

another vote for Dior Nude or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

if you have large pores, you would need some kind of primer like Chanel Base Lumiere.

mum295 · 25/01/2011 17:53

I used a sponge for years, but found that the sponge absorbed more than it put on my skin.

Use a tiny amount, use your fingers and start from your nose, working outwards. That way you shouldn't have much left by the time you get to your jawline.

If it's very visible, I'd think you have the wrong shade.

Don't forget to wash your hands well afterwards...keep a nailbrush handy!
