i have long fine mousey hair... very dull...
I dont like highlights that much either (though that is what i currently have)

so how do i go about having a nice, modern haircut. Im 34 with 2 small kids and about to go back to work.
(and i hate the hairdresser)

do i need to fork out a lot of money and see a professional hairdresser (if so, please advise, im in london, any recommendations?)
and then what do i ask???
i am completly clueless...

thank you!!

DH bought me this for Christmas last year: www.nhjstyle.com/head-start-personal-styling-for-her/.

Very pricey at £250 for 4 hours, but the person comes to your house and I found them friendly/helpful. I was having a style crisis after transitioning from career woman to SAHM and also having moved house and not knowing which local hairdresser to choose.

I didn't end up with anything radically different to what I already had, but that was good because they gave me the confidence to go with my hair's natural wave rather than fight it with straighteners all the time.

The main thing I got out of it was that the colour was done properly and sorted out for me, and they also gave me some good styling/product tips.

All of that said, for the same money I probably could have gone and got pampered in a central London top salon. But if you're more comfortable in your own home, maybe something like this is better?

I've since found a local hairdresser I trust, but I live in Surrey so no good for you I'm afraid!

P.S. I think you have to pay extra for colour...so maybe the visit to a top salon is better vfm?
