Could you take a look at my original plea for help here?

Basically I'm looking for a dress to wear to an early March wedding - bit nervous which is silly really, but want something nice that will suit my fairly ample frame....

I like the idea of a wrap dress but am not sure where to start looking.

Thank you Smile

not a wrap but love this one and for over it here

Also love this little bag too

I dont think wraps are as flattering as everyone thinks, I think they can make an ample bosom look huuuuuge. : )

Gillybobs · 19/01/2011 15:23

Sorry that dress link should have gone to the Mercury (grey) option and the cardi I was thinking of in the grey/silver too

planestrainsautomobiles · 19/01/2011 15:47

Just spotted another thread that asked for help finding clothes for the more voluptuous figure....have you looked at

Asos Curve

OR

Monsoon

Lots of dresses on offer - there are lots of lovely shorter dresses - are you happy to get your legs out (i.e. above the knee).

Hope someone will come on to give you some ideas on actual styling...I like the boden dress linked to above and think the grey is very pretty.

DottyDot · 19/01/2011 17:58

Ooh thanks - I'm on a train at the minute but will be able to devote more time to checking everything out tomorrow - so any more links and suggestions much appreciated and i'll be back tomorrow!

What's your budget?

I agree with Gillybobs about wrap dresses- they can look great, or they can emphasise larger bosoms.

How about this?

FaffTastic · 19/01/2011 20:05

How about these:

this

this

this with a wrap

this

With the right accessories and shoes they could all be glammed up enough for a wedding.

Having slagged off wrap dresses, I am going full circle and heartily recommending this.

I have one and am not pg. I bought it (whilst not pg) thinking it would wrap around and tie at the waist, and it does, beautifully. It hugs in all the right places and is made from beautiful silk jersey with a sheen to it. I have black, but I would get red if your colouring will suit (I am ginger, so red is out). Goes up to a size 20 and is half price. It's fate Grin

It is a really beautiful dress, and not just for pg women Wink

FaffTastic · 19/01/2011 20:18

Ooooh, I love the red wrap dress that tethers linked above. Get it, get it!!

tethersend · 19/01/2011 20:40

It feels like a million dollars on. Get it Grin

FellatioNelson · 19/01/2011 21:11

teths I love that too - does it not hang all wrong at the front though? Confused

OK, I'm trying to do a link and I'm getting seriously fucked cheesed off because it's not working, but look on Bravissimo - they have a really lovely floaty black wrap dress which is gorgeous for a dressy occasion. You could add colour with accessories or pashmina etc. They do a choice of cuts to suit your exact proportions/boob size as well. Good price too.

tethersend · 19/01/2011 21:39

I thought it would Fellatio, but the ties on it are long and you can 'double wrap' it IYSWIM- it fits like a dream. Yes, even over my washboard stomach .

Was it this one from Bravissimo?

FellatioNelson · 19/01/2011 21:48

Yes that's it - thanks! When I try to do a link all I get is this Hmm

Can't seem to get rid of it. Grin It's very interesting viewing on the Style and Beauty front though. Grin

DottyDot · 20/01/2011 12:45

Wow - just got back to this thread but haven't looked at anything yet - am v. excited and pathetically thankful for any help!

My budget's probably up to £80 - £100 (given that I've got no money I might as well spend more of what I haven't got Grin).

Am very large of nork - 36GG at the last count. Bottom half smaller - probably more an 18 than 20 at the moment and on diet, so hoping to be 18 possibly overall by the time I go shopping (5 minutes before wedding... Hmm)

Will check out links and report back...

Hmm - not so keen on the Asos stuff but really like this Monsoon dress here

Could hide a lot of lumps and bumps is what I'm thinking....!

DottyDot · 20/01/2011 12:51

Faff - bloody stupid computer at work won't let me see your links (possibly because I should be working Blush) but Tether I love that red dress - very not me but looks amazing!!

ooooh - should i order it...??

tethersend · 20/01/2011 13:14

Which one, the VW or the IO?

DottyDot · 20/01/2011 16:09

The IO!

OP posts:
tethersend · 20/01/2011 17:55

Get it! Honestly, I have the same sized norks as you and it fits really well. I love mine, and I paid full price for it. It's a bargain, no-one else will have one, you'll get loads of compliments (the sleeves in particular are gorgeous) and if you don't like it, you can send it back. And I'll eat my hat.

To sum up, get it.

Grin
FellatioNelson · 21/01/2011 14:53

She's right you know. The sleeves are particularly gorgeous.

tethersend · 21/01/2011 16:43

They are, Fellatio; they really are.

I wonder if she got it?

DottyDot · 21/01/2011 18:27

No - am being cowardly...! [Blush] I tried on a couple of Monsoon dresses yesterday and really liked one but didn't buy it - still hoping to be a dress size smaller by then!

Also I'm a bit nervous of ordering something and then not liking it - am rubbish at returning stuff...

OP posts:
tethersend · 21/01/2011 18:51

If it helps, IO dresses go for a fortune on ebay.

Now buy it. At once.

planestrainsautomobiles · 21/01/2011 20:29

Its gorgeous - I've got one IO dress that I also bought for a wedding and it felt really nice on (IYSWIM). Take the plunge!!
