What would go with hot pink jeans?

Bought the aforementioned from ebay on a whim for a song and rather to my surprise they look v nice on. But what to wear with them? Black maybe? Or make a virtue of a clashing colour? All feels rather brash but I must find a solution. What do you stylish ones think?

Can you do a link to the jeans Scummy?

Do you fancy going all 80's?

Are they skinny jeans/wide/bootleg?

Disclaimer:- I do not claim to being a "stylish one" but like to have a go.

CousinItH · 06/10/2005 23:57

For some reason Schiaparelli (sp?) sprang to mind when you said shocking pink and black. Must investigate...

CousinItH · 06/10/2005 23:59

shocking pink was one of her colours!

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 00:05

They are here . . I'm a great deal curvier than Schiaparelli btw! No androgynous angularity about my body unfortunately...

They look like bootlegs? What about this type of thing but in white or black? Or shrug and top combo white strappy top with pink shrug or black strappy top, black shrug.

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 00:21

Yes they are bootlegs- and look good with my new boots. Those look like really good ideas MrsS. Thank you. I think the first top type could work really well and in fact I'd forgotten about one existing top I have that isn't dissimilar and might look good. Not quite as sure about shrugs- do they emphasize huge bosomas would you think? Strappy tops are generally a no no for me as I am a possessor of massive mammaries.

Shrugs are fab, I've got two (M&S ones £10, much cheapness), I am a 32E/F and find them very flatering. DH commented how slim I was looking the first time I wore a strappy top/shrug combo!

The only situation I would say not to wear a shrug is if your midriff/stomach substantially beats your boobs or if you have no boobs at all.

MrsSpoon · 07/10/2005 00:30

BTW the strappy tops are only £6 from M&S too and the shrug hides the bra straps.

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 00:32

Cool. I feel a visit to M&S coming on. Thank you Mrs Spoon.

I'm sure you've thought of this already but if possible wear the jeans on your shopping trip (or at least take them with you in a bag so you can remind yourself of the colour) and try the stuff on with them when you are out.

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 00:38

Good plan. I will do that.

Anything, absolutely anything, if you're going to go for such a strong colour it can either fashionably clash or tone in. It depends on your body and hair, nothing else.

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 00:47

I think I will get a haircut.

OP posts:
CousinItH · 07/10/2005 00:48

Dye it black and white?

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 00:49

Um.. will consider it!

CousinItH · 07/10/2005 00:52

Like a badger in hot pink jeans...

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 00:54

A big boobed badger in hot pink jeans... a striking image indeed but am not sure if it's quite the look I was aiming for!

You will look gawjus, scummy!

Have had a v amusing day trying to become stylish...

First had eyebrows done and the plucker or whatever they're called professed startled astonishment at the coarseness of my eyebrow hair.

Then had haircut by the most fabulously grumpy hairdresser I've ever met. She started by grimacing at my hair with such horror that I asked her if it was a hopeless task. She said, QUOTE "It looks that way, yes, but I suppose I'll have to see what I can do." Not a glimmer of a friendly smile just a kind of fastidious doubt that there was much that could be done. Found this extremely funny- lucky it wasn't one of my sensitive days, eh?- and proceeded to watch her grimly attack my hair with most flamboyant scissoring action and a face of stone. Looks v nice actually!

Then went in search of MrsSpoon's shrug in brand new M&S- yeah!- near my flat. Very sweet young girl at the fitting room desk said "I shouldn't really say this cos I only work in Returns and I'm not an expert but I really don't think that looks good!" Had to agree that shrugs do nothing for me but found fabby wedge heel boots (The Beety ones I think) and some good plain Ts to wear with the pink jeans and v v nice big shiny bag. So despite being lambasted by style professionals all day I'm feeling pretty stylish and retail therapied up.

That sounds fantastic Scummymummy, shame about the hairdresser and the shrugs (although it was nice, if that's the right word, of the girl to give her advice). What you went for in the end sounds great!

Nightynight · 07/10/2005 17:49

how about a soft grey or cream jersey with the pink jeans? black would be a bit harsh imo

TheRtHonBaronessEnidOBE · 07/10/2005 18:06

aha i have those boots

you could wear a brwon top with those jeans

ScummyMummy · 07/10/2005 22:36

One of the t shirts I bought today is brown, Enid. Thanks for all the advice everyone.
