Help needed! Huge calves and practical boots/wellies needed

Right I have been on the hunt for wellies/boots for a month now and not found a suitable pair...

I dont want Hunters (used to be bril), Joules (leak v easy) or flowery fashion wellies.

I like a pair of good looking high (like riding boots)waterproof boots/wellies. I really like the Dublin River ones but unfortunately they are too narrow.

For the right pair happy to pay anything up to £300 given they are practical and hard wearing. I will use them daily for dog walking (muddy fields, streams ect..)

Many thanks from Vino with balloon calves!

Is there anything in the Duo range? i know they do boots for wider calves!

arentfanny · 17/01/2011 20:37

Aigle are pretty good for us with larger calves, I have the neopren lined ones with a buckle at the top.

VinoEsmeralda · 17/01/2011 21:06

Had a look at DUO and nothing made for mucky fields but nice boots for day to day Smile

Aigle looks nice, will see if there is a local stockist as am spending a fortune on postage and returning them...

I saw some boots the other day were the bottom was rubber and the calves goretex-ish and nicely lined but couldnt see a logo, any ideas what they could be by any chance?

You need Muck Boots - they changed my life!

Smile

Thats it, Muck boots! - thank you Bald and PacificDogwood.

Pacific- are they high up though as they look mid calf and really like them to be high up as I am a very messy walker (DH can go out in trainers and not get a speck of mud on them and I have mud on the inside of the welly up to the knee)

They do different versions; I have a pair of Dervents and they are kneehigh.

There are shorter ones as well. And ridiculous gardening clogs - never saw the point of the Grin.

Good luck on your quest for the ideal boot.

BTW, I looked at Aigle's as well but balked at the price.

Totally agree with muckboots-v good for those of us with "athletic" calfs.
Cosy and comfy too Smile

VinoEsmeralda · 18/01/2011 21:02

Like the term 'athletic calfs'

Blush about the calves!! Going to country wide tomorrow to get a pair as my last pair of non leaking wellies now do leak!

My half high wellies were ripped/cracked yesterday so went into Countrywide and tried on the Aigle ones (they didnt stock the Muckboots) and although v pricey what a perfect fitting wellie and v comfortable.

Went home and bought a pair on a website with a better price then Countrywide. Hopefully they arrive tomorrow!
