I want a leather tan handbag but can I find one? Hah!

I want a leather tan coloured handbag. I want it to have shoulder handle(s) and a longer strap as well so I can put it across my body or have it hanging at waist level.

This appears to be an impossible wish.

Lots of tan leather satchel type bags or saddle bags but nothing formal. Or leather tan bags with small shoulder handles and no longer strap. Or it is exactly what I want and it costs £300.

I have about £150 but the handbag it is replacing was only £90 so cheaper is better.

Something medium sized and smart/casual would be ideal - bit like this style here

Any recommendations? I have checked Oasis, Debenhams, House of Fraser, TK Maxx, and River Island.

I have the Oasis Maggie Satchel, it has shoulder strap and detachable longer strap, leather is gorgeous and it has a few separate compartment for organisation. Love it. Its out of stock online but they def still have them in the stores here it is

I am going to buy one when I decide which one.

clux73 · 16/01/2011 16:22

I've just ordered this one - brown leather, two straps, definitely well within budget

How about this one?

featherblue · 16/01/2011 17:06

I got the one piprabbit linked above (in an olive colour that seems to have been discontinued) for Christmas and absolutely love it. Lots of pockets, big. Really happy with it!

Hi thank you for the recommendations.

I like the satchel ones but I don't want a satchel style handbag as my main bag. Maybe my purchase after this one!! I like the toast one in red...

The Clarks one looks nice - I will have to see it in real life to assess size I think.

How big is the Oasis one? I looked in store today and neither shop had one. Looks nice though. My old one was from Oasis.

The Warehouse one is nice too and not too satchelly, hmm.

madammecholet - thanks for all those links but none of them have the two handles I want

Lots of options thank you :)

I just found this on House of Fraser but its not in stock online and I didn't see it in store today.

Maize, the gabriella and evelina at peony and moore both have handles plus a long strap.. Just checked again... :)

Gillybobs · 16/01/2011 21:03

Oasis one is about A4 size I'd say, fairly big but not huge IYSWIM. I find it more than spacious enough for everyday and I always have purse/mobile/makeup bag/hairbrush/gloves blah blah!

Gillybobs · 16/01/2011 21:06

Just wondering if you phoned Oasis HO they might be able to locate one for you? I know it was reduced from 60 to 50 quid recently so may have sold out in some stores

bishboschone · 17/01/2011 07:33

I have last years version of the oasis one.. Its no good for carrying weight. The strap is thin and it digs into your shoulder .. I have put a holdall strap on it til o decide on a new bag .

Gillybobs · 17/01/2011 08:32

I dont have that problem with this years version at all, strap comfortable and the long cross body strap is excellent when Im carrying loads. Really delighted with mine for £50

TheLemur · 17/01/2011 11:53
