Another hair colour mistake - how to get back to blonde?

Have just had my highlighted hair changed to a darkish reddish colour which Ive just decided I dont like.The hairdresser put some sort of base colour on first to darken the blonde, followed by a semi permanenet.

Can I get back to my blonde highlights again??!?!?! Wuuld it need to be done in stages?

Yes, but gradually.
I'm constantly going from dark brown to blonde and back. When I go darker it needs the red tint first and then a nice dark brown shade.

I then get bored and ask for highlights - darker ones at first. I must drive my hairdresser mad.
