Spanish/Andalusian riding boots

I got a pair of these in the Toast sale about a year ago. Sadly, they come up very generous so are enormous on my feet.

I have tried insoles but they still look just a wee bit silly and feel a bit slippy.

I wondered of anyone else has some - maybe wants to swap as theirs were too small - I have a size 42 but think I need a 41.

Also has anyone bought them from ebay - there is a Spanish seller on there but I'm not entirely sure if the quality is the same as these.

They are so lovely I have looked at them for a year but every time I think 'just wear them' it's no good, the disappointment is terrible!

There seem to be a few places that sell them over here as well but I don't know where to start, so any recommendations very welcome.

Thankyou Smile

Is there a manufacturer's name inside the boots?

CabbagefromaBaby · 15/01/2011 11:15

Hiya, well I can't see one - there is a large stamped '42/27' in them though and a gold 42 sticker on the sole.

They are so intricate - leather pieces sewn on and riveted and screwed on in various places, orange leather inside, rich brown outside.

I love them as an example of extreme bootmaking! but sadly don't feel right wearing them.

Do you have a pic? I have size 41 that is just right for me, but would do better with a bigger size (could fit woolen socks inside). Leather soles or rubber soles?

CabbagefromaBaby · 15/01/2011 18:20

Ooh! Well I have been wearing them for the first time today, to try and get used to them - I reckon though that they will probably not shrink, and even with thick socks and an insole they are still a little bit big.

The camera won't upload at the moment (can get you some pics within a couple of days if necessary though) but they are like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=www.intackshop.co.uk/images/newflat%2520boot2.jpg&imgrefurl=www.intackshop.co.uk/index.php%3Fmain_page%3Dindex%26cPath%3D4_34&usg=__x0qPn_JEue8Ez7v3FVvublI4GLA=&h=432&w=289&sz=155&hl=en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=xe3skiyxkGCUrM:&tbnh=135&tbnw=90&ei=4uQxTcKZK4HKhAfSqqCmCw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dspanish%2Briding%2Bboots%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1142%26bih%3D839%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&oei=4uQxTcKZK4HKhAfSqqCmCw&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=38&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=43&ty=59" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">these but with a cleated rubber sole, not flat.

Can I ask if you could link to a pic of yours - are they the same? There are various styles aren't there.

Mine look like this - that very boot in fact.

CabbagefromaBaby · 15/01/2011 18:34

Oh that is lovely. I wonder though - I did buy a pair like that from ebay ages ago and they were a 41,and too tight. So it might depend on the style?

That is a good price though. Thankyou for the link - I might order some new ones.

I'm sorry about the swap though. If a 41 in those is right for you, the ones I have would be enormous. Smile

No problem with no swap - I actually prefer the plainer style. I'd say my pair runs a bit small. I'm normally 40.5 in everything, so these (a snug 41) are unusually tiny for their size. If it's any help, the grippy rubber sole (from heel to tip) is 28,8 cm. The inside measurement is too difficult to check.

If you are ordering new ones, check out their waterproof style - mine are unfortunately not waterproof. I wish I had spent the extra few ??. Mine will be fine on a clear spring or fall day, but don't work in snow, slush or rain (moisture seeps through the leather). I think they also carry the riveted, more intricate style you currently have.

CabbagefromaBaby · 15/01/2011 19:00

Thankyou so much, I really appreciate that. I am outdoors a lot in mud and so on so waterproof would be excellent.

The flappy things on the side are actually really annoying! They look pretty but it takes ages to put on and off Smile

Thanks again.

Mine are 29.8! I wonder..but it is a risk. From what you say they are prob going to come up differently, the width was an issue with the ones I got, too.

Never mind, eh!
