which one for my interview tomorrow.

I have a very limited amount of clothes - and have this interview tomorrow.

I've got two choices for my 'bottom' half.

  1. A pair of black (slightly worn between the thighs but not obviously so - unless you're looking ) pair of Matalan trousers.

  2. A black gypsy skirt (almost brand new only been worn 2 times )

The top - well I'll pick which ever of my 'smart' tops is clean atm

Whats the interview for btw?

paolosgirl · 04/10/2005 22:12

Trousers trousers trousers! No gypsy skirts for interviews, I'm afraid. Keep your legs together, though

chicagomum · 04/10/2005 22:13

I'd go with trousers. tbh feel gypsy skirts is a bit casual for an interview.

HRHQoQ · 04/10/2005 22:13

care assistant - I was thinking trousers too - I feel more comfortable in them - feel awfuly self conncious in skirts (hence the reason I've only worn it 2 times - despite having bought it just after christmas)

Can't really go wrong with plain black trousers

HRHQoQ · 04/10/2005 22:14

ok - guess that's decided then - trousers it is (better just go check they're clean - and if not chuck 'em in the machine - they're 'cheap' ones so dry quickly).

Tops - do I got for 'pastels' or 'bold'?

Bold. IMO something memorable (but not for the wrong reasons - no flourescents, or excessive cleavage ).

paolosgirl · 04/10/2005 22:17

Ah, but bold can show up the sweaty pits if you're nervous!

HRHQoQ · 04/10/2005 22:18

the bold's are really bold - eg red

The pastel tops I've got are probably more likely to show up my sweaty armpits

Reds good. I suppose pastels are okay but not pale blue or yellow.

Dont ask me why.

HRHQoQ · 04/10/2005 23:20

okey dokey - black trousers and red top it is then

Hi QoQ I am a senior care assistant, so you can ask me stuff if you like!

The most important thing IMHO is to have scrubbed clean hands, minimal makeup if any, neat tied back/up hair and a HUGE smile.

And definatly trousers. If you have a blue top I would wear it if I were you, as most care assistant uniforms are blue, and it will help the manager to picture you doing the job

HRHQoQ · 04/10/2005 23:28

ok - will make sure my hands are clean
I don't wear make-up so that's not a problem
and my hair is just about shoulder length - not quite long enough to tie back though, so shall make sure it's tidy.

OP posts:
colditz · 04/10/2005 23:29

if it is shoulder length try to tie it or pin it back, they can be quite strict about hair

Still cannot picture how long it is though, so feel free to ignore me

colditz · 06/10/2005 00:41

How did that go then?

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 00:55

most of the update is on there

(I tied my hair back btw - it's just long enough)

that she had so many applicants for a night shift post! In my local paper there are currently 15 care assistant posts advertised, and I live in a small town. And it's not Bournemouth.

good grief, we can't find night workers for love nor money at our home

colditz · 06/10/2005 01:04

what did you wear?

HRHQoQ · 06/10/2005 01:07

black trouser and red top and 'sensible' flat - but black and smart - shoes.
