It's a chin length, dark brown bob. I don't want to colour it, but would like ideas on how to make it look less "mumsy" and more funky.

I usually straighten in with GHDs, but more and more people are wearing their hair wavy and it looks softer and more flattering.

What do I use to get soft waves? Would it be better to have layers cut in or keep it one length? Any ideas/links please!

Hello

I went to my hairdressers yesterday for free consultation as I am exactly the same as you ie. v bored of mousy shoulder length bobbed hair. I took pics of what it looked like when I curled it - takes me ages but worth it for big nights out and weddings..........so tomorrow I am booked in for three hours to have a perm!!! (Hate the word perm - so very '80's ) Anyhow why don't you get a curling wand, not v expensive, curl your hair and if you like it talk to hairdressers about permananet wave.

Good luck!

Should also add that my hair has to be cut into layers otherwise I will end up with triangle head Grin google curly hair or go buy a hair magazine for ideas.

Does your hair have any natural wave? I have chin length bobbed hair and found that mine will wave naturally much to my surprise Grin

Try a bit of liquid gel scrunched through and left to dry naturally. If you get any hint of a wave it might be worth giving it a try with a diffuser. I was genuinely shocked by the curlyness of mine with very little effort!

It is naturally wavy, but goes frizzy when it dries. I can scrunch it when it's damp and it looks nice, as soon as it dries - I look like Crystal Tips (showing my age now!)
