what do you think of this dress (in the colour they call pine which looks blueish) would be for work but can't decide it if is a bit frumpy...

I think it all depends on how you accessorise it; if you were to wear it (and I'm not saying you would!) with American tan tights and loafers then it would absolutely be frumpy. Decent opaques, shoeboots (or other stylish footwear) and some modern jewellery and it'll be grand :)

TrillianAstra · 10/01/2011 10:41

It's a bit meh.

whoneedssleepanyway · 10/01/2011 10:46

what does "meh" mean (bland..? boring?)

Its a useful work dress. Worn with a jacket instead of a suit it would look quite smart IMO.

SUre its conservative but for many of us thats what workwear has to be.

TrillianAstra · 10/01/2011 10:51

Yes, boring or bland, possessing no distinctive features, inspiring no strong feelings.

There's nothing wrong with it, and I expect with some effort you could make a nice outfit, but there's nothing particularly right with it either.

TrillianAstra · 10/01/2011 10:51

Too many s in possessing there I think

macmama · 10/01/2011 10:55

"there's nothing particularly right with it either"

I disagree. Its simple, probably very flattering to some body shapes (especially hippy with small top half I suspect) and could look quite elegant. It all depends on what the fabric is like in RL.

TrillianAstra · 10/01/2011 10:56

OK, well that's my opinion and that's yours. :)

macmama · 10/01/2011 10:58

I would wear to work with either a black or grey fairly short blazer/jacket and a high platform court shoe.

macmama · 10/01/2011 10:58

I know thats fine! :)

whoneedssleepanyway · 10/01/2011 10:58

hmmm not sure now.

thought the colour was nice for work, soft navy really suits me.

agree bland on its own but thought with right shoes/ tights combo could be quite elegant in an understated way...

maybe i will order it and see what it looks like on.

PS macnama that is my body shape that you describe so we will see if it does me any favours!

I think you would need to try it on - it might hang like a sack or it might be quite cute and flattering.

macmama · 10/01/2011 10:59

Order it you can always return it.

macmama · 10/01/2011 11:01

AGree with Seth. I suspect the dress is actually a bit too big for the model.

daimbardiva · 10/01/2011 15:51

I think it's nice actually - not sure I'd pay £69 for it, but if it's good quality it won't date and is quite versatile
