What skirt?

I wore a lot of skirts over the summer and liked it for a change. But I haven't worn a skirt in winter for years. I don't even really know whats in at the minute. Any recommendations?
I'm a SAHM but past the crawling on the floor age! I'm 5'6", slim with no hips or bum.

why not take a look through some of the catalogues? You dont need to buy the clothes from there but it gives you an idea of styles.
My new resolution is to only ever buy whole outfits as I'm terribly guilty of buying a skirt, top or pair of trousers and then having absolutely nothing to go with it. I now tend to buy outfits that I see and like on models in shop windows, magazines or on the websites etc.
That way i know that the pieces will go together.

There are some lovely 'A' line skirts in Next, they have been featured on This Morning as something that can be worn by all ages and sizes.

You can still wear gypsy skirts, but its the colour that changes with the season, browns, beige, black, khaki, etc.....
Get some boots to go with it.

H&M have some lovely reasonably priced stuff atm. Think you sound like you would suit knee-length-ish ones which are abit flitty around the hem area. Lovely sort of tartan ones of different colours in H&M, as well as good old black in different materials. Kew do some good silky or similar ones in teals and purples and agree that Next have some nice A-line ones in cord or similar which could just as well do casual and dressing up a bit. Russian embroidery ones are really in, if that's your thing.

What does Russian embroidery look like?

an either be patterns of different colours (really ornate ones like the much touted red wool one in New Look with yellows and oranges on it I think) or people like Next do more simple more with one or two colour patterns, usually around the hem and sometimes rising up to waistband. Skirts are usually quite full and knee-length or longer. Think cossacks and Russian princesses!

Thanks everyone. I used to mooch in shops a lot but with a toddler its a quick in and out for the essentials.
Think there seems to be stuff that I would like and mckenzie, buying a whole outfit makes a lot of sense. Am going to book ds in with dh for a day and get myself off shopping!
