Cords. Crime against fashion?

QueeferSantaland · 01/01/2011 11:02

I bought these in a dark teal colour yesterday.

DH says I am one step away from mustard trousers and that I look like an RE/RS teacher trying to be cool. (Apologies to RE teachers. FWIW I loved RE at school.)

I got them thinking they would be ok for work and everyday. They are soooo comfy.

To quote R.Kelly "My mind is telling me no, but my body, my body is telling me yes."Grin

Shall I take them back?

They're ok as long as they are quite tight.

The wrong sort of cords have a tapered leg and pleats at the front with a high waistband, and are usually in a shade similar to one of several bodily waste products!

Bonsoir · 01/01/2011 11:08

The problem with those trousers is not the corduroy material (which can be fabulous, and glamorous), but the out of date bootcut and the colour, which will not be at all fashionable in SS11.

QueeferSantaland · 01/01/2011 11:08

Ooh these are bootcut.

Are they a bit mumsie?

Would I be wearing the noughties equivilent of jeans, fleece & black ankle chunky heeled boots?

Glamorous? Really?

I will always wear this colour, Bonsoir, because it suits me and I love it. I would wear with a white shirt. Maybe red in winter.

I am trying to avoid the NHS admin staff uniform of black trousers & colourful top.

QueeferSantaland · 01/01/2011 11:16

As long as you dont wear them with a white shirt and a tank top you'll be fine

I would wear quite a lose batwingy type thin knit jumber with them adn some big old beads

NOT a v neck jumper

TheBigZing · 01/01/2011 11:29

I love them. So much more stylish than the Nhs admin staff 'uniform' you refer to. If your dh is anything like mine, his sense of style got stuck in about 1990 and won't comprehend anything hip and retro.

dexter73 · 01/01/2011 11:42

I don't think cords could ever be classed as glamorous! Not a fan of cords myself but that is because I don't like the feel of it rather than the look of it.

CybilScissorhands · 01/01/2011 12:23

If they make you feel frowsy or mumsy in ANY way though, ditch'em

they're nice ignore your dh i have some really wide legged black cords and they're fab

panettoinydog · 01/01/2011 12:33

They look like they could be good. If they fit well, snugly, they will be fine.

I surprised myself by getting cords recently. A v v fine cord, almost like velvet, dark grey, slim snug fit

dexter73 · 01/01/2011 12:59

Riven - that video is ace! Will now have to watch all the rest of them!

QueeferSantaland · 01/01/2011 14:33

Riven that was brill!

I've just wasted another 10 minutes!Grin

YY to DH being sartorially stuck in the 90's, BigZing!

Cyb, but I am mumsy I think.Blush I'm only 30! I need to step away from White Stuff.

I really like them, I wear a black and a brown pair of cords regularly in winter, just a bit different to black trousers and jeans.

mippy · 02/01/2011 14:04

I really, really like those cords. Most of my wardrobe is teal. Sadly, they didn't come in a long length.

foxinsocks · 02/01/2011 14:13

I got some recently - the fine cords - v comfy and warm they are. So pleased I bought them before this freezing weather. Was starting to feel I was a bit old for jeans all the time. And they were only something like £18 from m and s!
