QUICK what up-do can I do with my hair with NO clips or slides?

It's mid length. Layered. V long fringe. Think MN DIY cut but longer.

It has ti be up as I am at work in a food place until 11 and I am going straight out afterwards.

Owing to my ferel children being evicted from the babysitters for bad behaviour I now have no time to go and buy hair grips or slides. All I have is bobbles, straightners, tongs, gel spray and about half an hour.

Could you shove it up using a bobble and claw clip (if you have one)

CeliaChristmasFate · 31/12/2010 14:59

Have a look here

DooinMeCleanin · 31/12/2010 15:00

No claw clips and I don't want just a plain ponytail. I used to have loads of slides, claw clips and headbands but my bloody sister borrowed my 'hair-do' bag and all I am left with is dd1's dance hair things (hence the gel spray) and bobbles.

Curled high ponytail? If your hair is thick enough, you can take a section from the under the bottom of the ponytail and plait it and then wrap it around the base of your ponytail to cover the band and add a bit of detail.

Twist a ponytail into a bun and secure using the bobbles? My dd does this and then pulls a few strands out the bun "hole" bit iykwim.

Can you knock on to one of your neighbours and ask for an emergency loan of clips or grips?

DooinMeCleanin · 31/12/2010 15:04

The only neighbours I know are single males bar the mad cat ladies who hate me. Other nieghbour is out according to her FB. I already tried that one.

I have to make things as difficult as possible Xmas Grin

make 1 inch parting to the right of your hair. get the top layer and back comb at the roots. use gel spray to hold

comb over the top gently to look neat. more spray.

fix rest into bun at back of your head.

spray bun

after work you will have wavy hair with a bit of height at the top ala cheryl cole stylee.

Tortington · 31/12/2010 15:09

after you take the bun out obviously.

DooinMeCleanin · 31/12/2010 15:10

Ah that sounds do-able. Thanks custy. So after I back comb the top I should dampen the bit in the bun to encourage curling?

And if anyone goes for take-out for their supper tonight and the nomally scruffy looking girl behind the counter is all dolled up - that will be me Xmas Grin

Tortington · 31/12/2010 15:21

i wouldnm't dampen it because its all pressed in so tight together that it might not dry

but i find mine will culr up if i wash it and dry it before hand and whilst still warm from teh dryer put it in a bun

If you have a pencil you can do a Chignon any where any time.... Make a low ponytail and then start twisting it into a rope, fold it up and hold it against your head. stick the pencil throw catch some ofthe hair outside the twisted rope and then twist back and through.. That's probably a hopeless description... I get all my hair clips etc from these guys and they have a load of hand tutorials to show you all sorts of quick and easy styles... REALLY impressive
