Ugg boots poll: Do you wear yours indoors or outdoors?

boogiewoogie · 30/12/2010 20:50

Given that they are actually slippers (ask an aussie) and not snowproof, they should be worn indoors. However, they seem to be ubiquitous amongst women ranging from teens to 40s.

What do you think?

Outdoors. They are the only thing that keeps my feet warm.

traceybath · 30/12/2010 20:52

Only ever indoors here. They're my winter slippers.

Actually I have occasionally driven to garage in them but thats it.

McDreamy · 30/12/2010 20:53

I guess it depends who you talk to. My Australian friends wear them outdoors. I don't own a pair Sad

winnybella · 30/12/2010 20:53

Both. I'm basically living in them at the moment. Not good for snow, though- I'm in France, not much of it here, though.

I don't think they are very nice, tbh, but they are very comfortable. Wouldn't wear them to a dinner etc. Perfect for going to the children's park or shops though.

I've been given a pair for Christmas and they are very snug and warm. I know that if I use them outdoors, then I will not want to wear them indoors iyswim.el

I am absolutely Shock by how much they cost though and it would be a shame to only use for winter slippers.

my aussie mates were wearing them outdoors everywhere and took them backpacking!

they arn't slippers. they are to put on post surf and actually come from cornwall afaik. ugg is american!

i said i wasn't going to buy anymore but then it got so cold i caved and bought chestnut knee length ones. god what a relief! i would never wear them in wet weather though - be ruined!

lots of footwear isnt snowproof?

boogiewoogie · 30/12/2010 20:58

My box says Australia. Inside the boot label, it says "Made in China".

carciofi · 30/12/2010 21:50

Indoors mostly but sometimes run to the corner shop in them!

princessProudmel · 30/12/2010 21:51

Outdoors

Meggles76 · 30/12/2010 21:53

I wear mine out and about but only in cold DRY weather!!

peppapighastakenovermylife · 30/12/2010 21:58

I wore my emus outside in the snow and they were fine Smile

GoodChristianaRejoice · 30/12/2010 22:04

I think they are very ugly and should only be worn alone!

McDreamy · 30/12/2010 22:54

Ugg Australia were an Australian company but were bought by an American company and are now made in China. Emu on the other hand are still made and owned by an Australian company (all according to my Aussie mate)

inside - instead of slippers

belledechocchipcookie · 31/12/2010 00:14

I'm waiting for my first pair of Emus to be delivered from new Zealand. Smile

QuickLookBusySanta · 31/12/2010 00:20

Outside.

In the recent cold weather lots of my friends, who hate uggs, and think it is much more fashionable to wear hunter wellies, were v jealous of me when I was cosy and warm and they were freezing their toes off!

I have the Kensington ones and they are my very favourite thing at the moment.

DonaAna · 31/12/2010 07:08

Indoors, only. The soft suede is tragic outside and the sole in the originals is super slippery and unsuitable for outdoor use.

I don't believe in high maintenance winter boots (weekly or monthly protective coating sprays) - and saw a very soiled and watermarked pair of blonde Uggs on someone yesterday. Not a look anyone should be aiming for.

MayorNaze · 31/12/2010 07:10

mine are fake anyway

but i wore them outside once and felt like vicky pollard so they are strictly indoors only

whoneedssleepanyway · 31/12/2010 07:33

UGG Australia do actually sell slippers as well (i have a pair) which would imply that they don't intend the boots just to be used as slippers. I have 3 pairs of the boots and wear them all outside.

aprildays · 31/12/2010 14:30

celtic sheepskin are the original uggs. They are made in Britain [ as opposed to China which Uggs are] and try to be ethical . They are really warm and well made

FritziGreenEyes · 31/12/2010 14:37

indoors only

sungirltan · 31/12/2010 19:05

april - thats that ones i meant! :-)

aprildays · 01/01/2011 17:55

sungirltan - I really love them and have to have them prised off my feet in cold weather
