Started another thread about having a Bobbi Brown make over but just wondered what your fav/best make up brand is. I'm not very good at make up and would like to be better!

Laura Mercier for their tinted moisturiser and blusher, Urban decay, Bobbi Brown, Mac and benefit for eyes and lips.
southeastastra that looks like a lot of make up for the money. I haven't heard of smashbox is it good quality?

yes i think it is, the cream liners are fab and stay on all day and the eyeshadows are really good - they sell mainly only on qvc and in debenhams i think

sue52 · 28/12/2010 12:29

Thanks. I'll check out qvc's website.

Carlossss - that's what I bought in the end. I already use the Bare Minerals foundation and I bought the eyes cheek and lips box! It's fab!

I used to love mac but recently, have found the bobbi brown alternatives alot better.

Been using the mac tinted moisterisor for a while (a little goes a long way) but last time ended up with the bobbi brown one and its makes the mac one seem rubbish in comparison. Ditto re the gel eyeliner pots and also creme blusher (bobbi brown one is alot cremier)

I still love mac eyeliner pencils though ;)

It?s a mixture, but my extensive buying, and advice from two friends who are top make up artists, one has recently introduced her own line is that:

For proper coverage, Make Up For Ever HD foundations

Laura Mercier for lighter foundations/tinted moisturisers and primers and Secret Finish, brightening powders.

Bobbi Brown corrector ? but Eve Pearl Salmon is even better, but hard to get)

Laura Mercier for eyeshadows. Bobbi Brown eyeshadows also good to apply.

New MAC eyeshadows hit and miss. Ditto Nars. Sometimes too chalky and crumbly and what?s with the sparkle?

Lipsticks. NARS and Lipstick Queen. Chanel and Bourjois.

NARS Exibit-A blush. Looks scary but suits everyone and much better than Orgasm

Shu Uemura ME Brown 845 grey/brown shimmer eyeshadow. Also suits everyone.

Shu Uemura brushes, Make Up For Ever brushes

Some cheaper brands are also good. Rimmel eyeliners are good, Myface has great dewy foundations. Revlon does great lipsticks and polishes. Collection 2000 does good mascaras. Barry M is cheap and cheerful.

MAC Face and Body a classic if you want dewy, lightish coverage.
