...will they do a make over for you in store? Or is there another make up company that will? I want some new make up but I'm not very good at it so thought I would go for a make over. Just picked Bobby Brown as I'd heard on here they are very good!

not sure about the policy, but the bobbi brown ladies in kendalls, manchester are lovely, and will always offer to make you up.
and they are good - not a tidemark in sight.

They used to do a free make-up lesson but they had people taking the piss a bit and so now you have to pay, but I think the cost is redeemable against their products.

It ight vary from store to store.

I had a Bobby Brown makeover a couple of years ago, was great, probably advisable to book though, and no high pressure sellling tactics.

I live in the south, what department stores stock Bobby Brown? Will I have to go into London?

John Lewis in Southampton.

LauraNorder · 27/12/2010 10:18

I do like Bobbi Brown make up but I think you have to be careful as with both a Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier makeover I have bought stuff straight away and then when I have got out in daylight have found the colour they used wasn't quite right, with LM the foundation was a bit too pale and with BB the blusher was a bit too pinky, my mum had a BB makeover with me and the foundation they used on her was a bit too light too. THey are lovely products though if you get the right stuff.

polyhymnia · 27/12/2010 11:33

Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier are two of my favourite products too (other is By Terry) Both do excellent makeovers, but who... is right. I never buy any of the products used on me until I've had a good look at them in natural daylight - usually just do the rest of my shopping, and from time to time have a look in my handbag mirror. may look a bit strange to passers by but have saved myself quite a few mistakes tht way. Or I tell them I definitely want to buy something and get them to list all the products and shades used (and prices),go home with them on, then go back and buy what I want next time I'm in town.

Thank you good tips there. I'm not so bothered by foundation as I have discovered Bare minerals and love it, it's more eye make up that I am interested in. I am crap with colurs and application.

Whoops - changed back to my old name to speak to Marslady! Tis Laura here Grin
