Am going to the pub - walking. It is cold! What can I wear that will look like I've made a bit of an effort but is still okay for a snowy walk?

I have black knee high boots and brown knee high boots - or wellies.

Don't want to wear jeans because they get all soggy at the bottoms.

are boots high heeld? If so , forget it

Just put a bit of extra slap on, and a nice top

No one cares about footwear when its slidey outside

BlooKangaWonders · 23/12/2010 17:12

It's only the top half that matters in a pub as no one will see what you're wearing on the bottom half. Plenty of glitz/ bling/ sparkle? Or just something v low cut?!

Cyb · 23/12/2010 17:13

Yeah get the ol' gals out

loujay · 23/12/2010 17:13

I have spent the day in a denim skirt (short) and 2 pairs of tights, the top ones being festively striped Grin If you have something like that with a nice jumper and boots, should be fine I think

BelligerentYhoULE · 23/12/2010 17:14

Boots are okay for walking (have tested them!); not totally flat but not heeled either - sort of riding boot-ish, I guess.

I don't have anything glitzy, blingy or sparkly, except bangles.

I could go for my failsafe Anglomania dress but how to wear it and not freeze?

Thick socks if you have some - makes all the difference whatever boots you decide. Makeup v. important - red lippy is most Christmassy. Plus usual warm stuff, including vest/long johns if it were me!

BelligerentYhoULE · 23/12/2010 17:15

That's what I've been wearing all day too, Lou! denim mini, two pairs of tights and dp's huge cashmere jumper!

Can't you wear your wellies and put your boots in a bag?

BelligerentYhoULE · 23/12/2010 17:19

I could do, although tbh the boots are the least of my problems!

Enough good make-up and some good jewellery and a smart top, and you will look just fine. Seriously, in all this snow, you need to go for warmth.

Unless you're a Geordie. :) They seem immune to bad weather.

This is what fur coats are for Wink

5GoldenFimbos · 23/12/2010 17:45

Skinny jeans, boots, nice top, jewellery, scoosh of perfume.

Gillybobs · 23/12/2010 17:51

Tuck your jeans in to your boots and they wont get soggy then have a few drinks and you wont give a stuff how you look : )

BelligerentYhoULE · 23/12/2010 18:03

I haven't got any skinny jeans. My jeans are too mumsy and bootcutty to tuck in my boots.

SO - this is what I have just put on - what do you think?

Thermal vest, grey tights, thermal socks

Black Anglomania dress worn over a grey and white striped long sleeve t-shirt and under a grey cardigan

Black and gold necklace, black and gold beaded cuff, tan knee high boots

Bronze eyeshadow (Urban Decay Smog) and dark red lipstick.
