I've got my hair cut like that now, except with a blunt fringe. I am not Jessica Alba either, but it looks nice and hides my double chin frames my face and have had some compliments.

44, before you ask.

JamieLeeCurtis · 16/12/2010 18:36

I wouldn't do that without the fringe - too many lines (41).

I have a bob myself, but actually I don't think it suits her hair that well. Her forehead is high and her hair looks very fine and therefor too flat - rather than sleek.

I'd go for a side-swept fringe if you are nervous, then a blunt one later on if you want a change.

There are so many variations on a bob, and it's all down to a skillful hairdresser. And hair straighteners, if you are a bit frizzy like me!

jessica alba can get away with even a bald head imo!

it's a lovely cut though i think that would suit most

southeastastra · 16/12/2010 18:40

(ime though it's very hard to find a hairdresser that could cut that style so well)

fibernachi · 16/12/2010 18:50

Bobs are damned high maintenance and not at all easy to cut well (believe it or not). Unfortunately if you don't have an excellent hairdresser and put the work in you'll end up looking like horrendously mumsy...

fibernachi · 16/12/2010 18:51

...and put the work in daily you'll...

thenightsky · 16/12/2010 18:55

I have a bob and don't find it hard work due to amazing genius of hairdresser who cuts it so it just falls right with a tiny bit of blow drying.

Unfortunately, yesterday I tried to save money by going somewhere else and now I just look ungroomed.

Gillybobs · 17/12/2010 19:46

I have something similar, also with a heavyish sideswept fringe. I find it easy to look after but I do have very thick straight hair which hangs well.

I think the secret is to make sure its graduated slightly so front hangs a little longer, otherwise it could look VERY mumsy

TheNextMrsClaus · 18/12/2010 15:22

I think her hair looks very flat and lank.

Gogopops · 18/12/2010 15:49

I have a shortish bob with fringe. My hair is quite fine but looks ok after a blow dry and straightening (again, high maintenance).
I've heard a lot about the Babyliss Big Hair - how does it perform on bobs? Anyone?

I don't think that bob suits Jessica Alba. She still looks gorgeous because she is gorgeous, but other styles have suited her better.

I imagine it's a difficult one to keep up unless you have quite straight and heavy hair naturally, and it would need to be trimmed frequently to keep it even.

navyeyelasH · 18/12/2010 16:20

I think it's boring; reminds me of that boy band Hanson - sorry!!

Gogopops · 18/12/2010 16:55

BitofFun - I'll keep clear then!! Grin

brimfull · 18/12/2010 16:59

lol at the link BoF did
but the big hair wouldn't do that
despite it's name it doesn't add volume ime, just sleek shiny straightness

TheNextMrsClaus · 18/12/2010 20:50

Ooh ggirl, a bit worried to hear that. I have just bought the Big Hair gadget but not tried it out; but sleek shiny straightness is the enemy as far as my fine, limp hair is concerned. Confused

brimfull · 18/12/2010 20:53

well I have to use hair product at the roots to get volume of any sort.
Reading the other thread and other reviews for big hair I think I will blast the roots with my normal hairdryer then use the big hair.
The problem is you need powerful blasts of hot air then cold to get long lasting volume and the big hair just doen't have the power.
It is great mind you , I don't think you'll be disappointed.

biryani · 19/12/2010 21:06

hair's way too lank for the style and will be very high maintenance, even for Jessica. If I were you, I would try something asymmetric and parted on the side and perhaps shorter. I love bobs, but think they ought to be cut to flatter the face (ie to draw attention to some attractive part of it). Jessica's does nothing for her and will grow out in no time.
