My top tip. Apply a little aloe vera gel (less than a fiver for a ginormous tube from holland and barrett) before putting on foundation.

surrrrrrrrrrrrely too shiny

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 12:03

When I can't afford Laura Mercier foundation primer, I mix my foundation w/a little Oil of Olay Total Effects. Works an absolute treat!

agree total effects is very good

Estee Lauder serum stuff is brilliant though - the best one, I think called Idealist

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 12:06

I agree, Idealist is quite nice. Really smoothes everything up w/o the shine.

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:06

i have some gel and will try in the interest of musmnet science

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 12:07

Go for it, Enid! Tell us how it works out for you.

Is your skin normal, oily, dry or combination?

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:07

oily-ish in t-zone
normal/sensitive on cheeks

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 12:09

I usually have normal, but this pregnancy has made mine REALLY oily and so I'm hestitant to experiment - altho normally I wish I could make a living as a beauty product tester.

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:10

think I have tried everything under the sun

used to be ADDICTED to beauty stuff

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 12:13

I used to spend a good part of my disposible income - back pre-kids when I had it - on beauty products. Sephora was my home away from home.

dinosaur · 30/09/2005 12:14

Well, if I seriously thought I'd end up with a complexion as lovely as yours, RnB, I'd give it a try.

But I doubt it, somehow .

p.s. I met you at the SN meet-up last Autumn, just in case you think I'm some mad stalker!

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:15

mmmmmm sephora................

went into space nk a couple of weeks ago as the dds bought me some stuff for my birthday...drool...

unfortunatly these days tend to make do with Simple facial wash. Although Ido have an expensive moisturiser and I stock up on Christian Dior tinted moisturiser at xmas

expatinscotland · 30/09/2005 12:17

Proactiv for cleansing here. Worth every penny!

Oil of Olay Regenerist at night and Total Effects for day. Works a treat, especially the Regenerist. REAL reduction in lines around the eye and forehead, although I'd botox my forehead in an instant if I could afford it.

Enid · 30/09/2005 12:17

my friend had botox the other day and it looks amazing...

I'm green with envy! One of my friends - no kids - has it done regularly and I must say, she looks incredible. She also had an 'Endlight' laser procedure done around her eyes and looks amazing.

I miss Sephora sometimes!
