Help me choose some eyeshadow please

I usually just wear mascara and maybe a bit of eyeliner but I would love to wear a bit more make up I just never know what colour eyeshadow to choose.

So can you recommend me a brand and a colour, I am fair and fast approaching 40. Would like both a day time and a night time look.

My favourite eyeshadow is Mac Shale, which is a sort of grey-ish mauve-ish colour. I also like the Urban Decay boxes - they have a new one full of brown shades which I really, really want. :)

Mac is great, stays put. If you are looking for a cheaper option, Bourgieous (sp??)is good and is made by the same people as Chanel.

What colour are your eyes/hair?

Hair is fair/blonde and eyes are blue. Thanks for the recommendations so far!

If you have blue eyes and want to bring out the colour then peaches, golds and bronzes work really well, as do grey and navy or wheaty and silvery taupe shades.

The Urban Decay natural/brown shades box is very nice. Colours from MAC that look great on blue eyes are, Naked Lunch, Jest, Melon Pigment, Saddle, Retrospeck, Satin Taupe. I would avoid most blues unless they are dark navy or greyish based as they can make your eyes look very "icy".

Or Benefit creaseless cream in birthday suit or champagne. They have a lovely subtle shimmer and last all day. I'm the same colouring as you and these are the first eye shadows I've found in years that don't look like war paint but do look glam.

Will have a quick look at the Mac urban Decay now though - as several people have suggested it.

I also like Bourjois. I wear 08 beige rose. Its a simple warm beige colour but helps brown/ grey khohl eyes and mascara stand out bit more. Too pale to wear at night though.
