Feeling frumpy and need a dress

Hoping all you lovely ladies can help me find the perfect dress for Christmas. I want something that I can dress up with jewellery/shoes rather than very dressy on it's own. Budget is up to £100. I am 5'5 ish and a size 14 with a mummy tummy and don't suit anything with a high neckline.

Any ideas?? I feel like I'm so out of the loop fashion-wise I don't know where to start and having already tried on several very unflattering dresses I'm beginning to feel like a big fat frumpy failure.

I tried on this dress last month from pahse 8 (different fabric) and it was very flattering.

They only seem to have it in this fabric on line.

This is similar at debenhams. You could dress it up or down.

This is lovely.

This is over your price range, but is absolutely stunning and very flattering. Have just bought it in black.

this is nice too. Get red.

I love that Monsoon dress but worried the neckline might be a bit low? That Asos one is gorgeous tethers but I'm a size 14! I suspect I would look like a tomato.
Clure, I'm going to hit John Lewis today and try on the Mint Velvet one and the Phase Eight one. Love the colour and even though pattern isn't normally my thing I think it might actually be quite flattering?

Thank you ladies, I am feeling more inspired now.
