These boots.. worth it?

I love these boots... www.piedaterre.com/catalogue/style.asp?y=A10LLE10HBC121L&pc=10&f=1&dac=1 but I have a similar black pair from PaT last year of knee highs (riding boot style).
S&B gurus, do I really need to mothball my knee-highs in favour of over-knees? Are knee-highs too AW 2009, or am I just wasting money in an attempt to look stylish and buying the wrong thing (happens a lot).

over jeans mainly (in varying colours) - are they too three musketeers?!

Although share reservations about kength. IMO ankle boots far more on trend than long ones

to much money and they will be dated next winter so you will wear them very little - stick to knee high as they will not date so fast
