I need to know if they come up large, small or average, as a brand. for instance, if you are a size 6 in clarks, would your size 6 karrimors be roughly the same size?

i want to buy online, but am a big size 8. i therefore cannot go up a size, as 8 is biggest anyone seems to do.... but i dont want to buy if this brand 'comes up small'.

I would say they are slightly on the large side but you need that for walking boots/shoes. My feet are a 41 (ie a big 7). My walking boots are a 7 and I wear relatively thin socks with them. I would not be able to wear very thick woolen hiking socks, or 2 pairs of socks with them.
