Apparently I am a pygmy and never noticed!

(apologies in advance if 'pygmy' offends anyone, I'm using in the context of 'pygmy animal breeds' as that's what I feel like! Choose own comedy but non-offensive short adjective if you prefer....)

Anyhoo.

I've just received my first ever order from Net-a-Porter, which is a thing of beauty incidentally, and of the 5/6 pairs of jeans I ordered every single one is a good 4 inches too long. I'm 5.5-5.6 so really didn't think I was that short!

They don't sell short cut 7 for All Mankind, so what does everyone else do? Get them turned up? Roll them up inside your jeans??

So disappointed!

I think that style icon traceybath (who is a small but perfectly formed 5 foot - and gorgeous with it Smile) gets hers taken up. She will hopefully be along soon

I well remember the thrill of my first ever NAP order! a Marc by Marc Jacobs dress that I ordered in Large. Had had2 babies in 16 months and was suffering inverse body dysmorphia. The joy of having to exchange for - wait for it - an XS!!!!

enjoy Smile

I am short and get my jeans altered all the time. Any dry cleaner can get it done , I think even Sainsburys do them. Around £10..make sure you tell them you want them the same finish. YOu can pay more and get them kind of inverted so the original hem is put back on..around £25 I think but I don't bother with my Diesel jeans.

Best thread title ever.

LOL at style icon.

But yes you just get used to spending a lot at the tailors.

30andMerkin · 08/12/2010 08:29

Why thank you Gandalf

The thing is I really didn't think 5ft5 was short! But having popped over to the 7 For All Mankind fan thread, apparently even 5.7 isn't enough to fit the legs, so who do they make them for, gazelles?!

Am off to the tailors (and will be hiding receipt from DH, who will clearly never understand why I spend ££ on a pair of jeans that don't actually fit!)

Do wash them first though in case of any shrinkage.

LauraMercier · 08/12/2010 21:50

If you're paying a lot for jeans, ask for the inverted or whatever it is type hemming that keeps the original. I have to get all mine done and they seem ever so slightly mumsyish afterwards (maybe only I notice?) so I would def spend the extra cash

Envy at your posh jeans!

muddleduck · 08/12/2010 22:31

Maybe you just don't wear high enough heels?

HotButteredToast · 09/12/2010 09:48

I'm 6ft tall and I wish I had the problem of too much fabric on the legs of jeans! Most companies cut costs by cutting the legs as short as possible. Even on NAP jeans are often too short for me. It's a sign of quality though if there is more fabric on your jeans or trousers. Max Mara used to do that with their trousers so you would have them adjusted to fit you perfectly.
