Can I wear a dark blue evening dress with a black bolero? Yes or No?

I've fallen in love with a dress on eBay but will need to wear my bolero as it's cold.

Will it look ok?

No, I would get a silver one. Peacocks and new look both have them in.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 07/12/2010 13:25

very much ok..midnight blue with black is v.v 'in' this season!! You'll look uber trendy!

notasize10yetbutoneday · 07/12/2010 13:25

To clarify I mean, I think you should get a silver bolero to go with the dress.

ihavenewsockson · 07/12/2010 13:40

Thank you...
Now I have a dilema- it think i will buy it and see how it looks with my black one (trendy ooh er!) and if it doesn't suit, I'll get a silver one.

What about the shoes, oh wise s&b ladies?

I wear navy and black together regularly, it's one of my favourite colour combinations. Using different textures like silk/velvet/wool/patent makes it even nicer imo.

mamaloco · 07/12/2010 14:32

Sorry navy and black is horrible,
electric blue or dark shade of blue can be nice, so depends of the exact colour of your dress

Shoes? silver (or black) like the blolero? or any shade of blue which match the dress.
or contrast red bolero/red shoes...? Confused

traceybath · 07/12/2010 14:34

Navy and black is very chic.

I'd go for black shoes perhaps suede or patent and black tights - opaque/fishenet or lacy. Could you link to the dress?

ihavenewsockson · 07/12/2010 15:37

this is the one

thank you!

Black should be OK with that shade of blue

Meggles76 · 07/12/2010 16:35

Navy and black are uber chic Grin

For a night out recently I wore a short navy silk dress with black opaques, black court shoes and a black bolero - and got compliments.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 07/12/2010 16:36

Generally speaking, no, but with that gorgeous frock, yes. :)

It's a fabulous dress. I think black accessories would be fine. As the dress is so long, you could just wear your slippers Wink.

LionsAreScary · 07/12/2010 22:58

Fabulous dress. It will look fine with a black bolero. (Biased because I wore similar colours last Sat night but in a cocktail dress.)

ihavenewsockson · 07/12/2010 23:16

....I was thinking black crocs Wink

I'll see if it floorlength on me when it arrives, i'm 5'11 so it'll be wonderful if it is!

I'll prob. go for black velvet flat pumps or peep-toes. I'll be in them all day so they'll have to be comfy.

That dress is beautiful, black bolero will look gorgeous with it.
