I'm having a difficult time choosing a ring for a special present. Please can you give me your opinions on each of these rings?

I would go for the silver option with each.

Who is it for? Why do you want to buy a ring for them?

I would like to help more but unfortunately don't like rings anyway apart form plain bands. This is what I tihnk of each, but please don't take offence, our tastes just differ:

  1. I don't like
  1. I really don't like
  1. Better than the first two
  1. A gypsy ring or something you might find in a dressing up box
moccachoccachino · 04/12/2010 12:28

It's a 40th birthday present for someone who really likes rings.

Thanks for your honesty.

Really like 3rd one, others too fussy & a bit gaudy IMO

Ah your friend likes rings! You sound like a very thoughtful friend then.

I'd go for the third one.

FiveOrangePips · 04/12/2010 12:55

Not keen on the first because of the swallow, I like the second one, but my favourite is the third one, lovely and simple.

The feather one looks like a fashion ring, imho.

moccachoccachino · 04/12/2010 22:02

I also prefer the third one I think.

It is for someone who likes jewellery that is a little bit different, casual dress, leggings, tunics type of thing.

How about these for something different?

3rd one

c0rns1lk · 04/12/2010 22:20

I like 2 and 3

moccachoccachino · 04/12/2010 22:21

Just out of interest do you also like the other ring(s) I linked just now?

OP posts:
c0rns1lk · 04/12/2010 22:23

I wasn't keen on the other ones you linked to

brimfull · 04/12/2010 22:30

I like third link in your first post and I do like the hairy growler ones.

featherblue · 04/12/2010 23:49

I'm a ring lover myself, and I'd go for 1 or 3. Beautiful and unusual!

swanker · 05/12/2010 00:03

I think OMDB can read my mind

Grin

the hairygrowler ones are definitely niche...

apple99 · 05/12/2010 08:23

I like 1 and 4 the best.

FellatioNelson · 05/12/2010 08:28

I'm not keen on any of them, but that's not to say they aren't perfectly suitable for the recipient. I agree with vino we need to know more about her!

Those rings all look a bit delicate and boho and lentil weavery to me. I'd prefer a fierce chunky cocktail ring. But that's me.

mattahatta · 05/12/2010 08:28

1 and 3, the hairy growler ones not so good!

moccachoccachino · 05/12/2010 14:20

So looks as though number 3 is the most popular. She usually would go for a more chunky ring so the Hairy Growler ones do look a bit delicate but I do think she would like to wear them.

Thanks for all of your comments, really helpful.

1 or 3

iTigress · 05/12/2010 23:22

I really love the swallow one, it's so pretty Xmas Smile

Enchanted I'm not personally keen on but it's the sort of thing your friend might love?

The Meadowgrass one is a bit plain.

The Peacock one is also lovely, but the swallow one is stunning and would get lots of compliments.

I was in Fenwick on Bond St earlier looking at bracelets - I have a thread on here canvassing opinions for my pressie from DH - and I was admiring the Alex Monroe stuff. They had lots of other designers with unusual rings, worth a look if you're near London?

moccachoccachino · 05/12/2010 23:28

I'm not near London. Where is your thread?

I think she would like any of them tbh but I am still undecided.
