Suede heeled boots - will they get ruined easily?

I've been looking for a nice pair of knee-high, heeled boots and have finally found some but they're suede rather than leather which I really wanted. They're so comfy and tick all the other boxes but I'm worried that the rain and snow will ruin them.
I don't have a car so I walk quite a bit and as I'm quite petite and my trousers are often a bit long I sometimes wear heels when it's raining so my trousers don't get wet. I've never had suede boots before and I'm a bit worried that I won't be able to wear them in the rain or snow. I realise that I can Scotch Guard them but will this really be enough?
Thanks.

In my experience suede boots always pick up all sorts of marks and stains even after being Scotch Guarded. I've got a lovely pair of brown suede boots that ended up with water marks after the second outing. However, I discovered Boston Suede and Nubuck shampoo - it's brilliant and sorted them right out. I suppose just wear your boots with prudence!
