I'm looking for flat, warm boots that can be worn with anything i.e. tucked in with straight-leg/skinny jeans but also with a day dress.

I'd go for shoes but I don't think they'll be warm enough for winter. But I've got no idea what is/isn't considered trendy/stylish etc so could do with some help. Doesn't need to be cutting edge fashion mind just needs to not look like I'm stuck in a 90s clothing rut (I am btw).

I like these:

What do you think ladies? I like the look of them and as I have reynauds the fur appeals but bit concerned that the suede will look knackered within a v short time.

Anyone seen any non-suede ones like this?

Thanks, all

Link doesn't work, sorry.

Gah, sorry can't get the link to work now.

How about this: www.dune.co.uk/catalogue/style.asp?y=A10LSU10LBC618F&pc=10&r=43&g=41&s=767

Or maybe these:

But are they a bit more angsty teenager than professional woman in 30s Blush

I like the first ones. They look warm too Smile

bethelbeth · 02/12/2010 17:18

The two pairs look exactly the same, although from personal experience the Dune ones are probably better made.

aliceinlalaland · 02/12/2010 17:25

Thanks both.

What about the suede - is it possible to protect it so that it doens't look knackered really quickly? Or is that inevitable?

And are they smart enough for (media) office wear? With a day dress say?

aliceinlalaland · 02/12/2010 17:28

Dune ones are nice
noticed them in JL the other day

brimfull · 02/12/2010 17:30

blowfish would be too flappy round legs

aliceinlalaland · 02/12/2010 17:31

thanks ggirl - is that JL on Oxford Street? Good feedback re the blowfish ones...

Blowfish shoes tend to be really soft and not very supportive.

Also just prefer the Dune ones Grin

brimfull · 02/12/2010 17:34

I'm getting these in turquoise for Christmas. They're sooo comfy and soft. I won't hear a word said against them. They also have them in black or I think I saw them in brown somewhere too.

They also come in a longer style but my calves are too chunky I'm more of a short boot kinda girl.

MayorNaze · 03/12/2010 10:06

omg mackerel i LOVE the purple boots!!!

aliceinlalaland · 03/12/2010 14:04

Ooh, mackerel I really like those. What will you be wearing them with if you don't mind me asking?! Still trying to work out what would be the most versatile choice if I want something to wear with everything iyswim

MackerelOfFact · 03/12/2010 14:30

They're fab, aren't they? Haven't a clue what I'll wear with them with though, I'm not terribly stylish, but I'll certainly be wearing them for the rest of the winter. Most of my clothes are verying shades of purple, grey and turquoise though so the bold colour isn't too much of a problem for me.

brimfull · 03/12/2010 17:08

they look like boots belonging to one of the Tweenies

5GoldenFimbos · 03/12/2010 17:10

I have the longer style mackerel and quite chunky calves but I absolutely adore the shorter ones. I sooooo want them now.

aliceinlalaland · 08/12/2010 11:20

well, in case anyone's interested, I took a different tack and bought these instead in the end:

www.clarks.co.uk/find/department-is-women/producttype-is-boots/subproducttype-is-ankleboots/product-is-20340837

They felt a little bit more adventurous, though actually i'm still not 100% and have only worn them in the house in case I change my mind Blush
