What are you supposed to wear that looks nice and is also WARM??

I'm going out tonight for the first time in ages, with bf, but not really a date as some other friends coming too and anyway we're only going to the cinema and for some drinks. And TBH I don't think he'd care even if I turned up in an old hoodie and jeans, but I was looking forward to dressing up a bit!

Any ideas on the kind of thing I could wear to keep warm and also look nice? I haven't got the time or money to go shopping so loads of suggestions please and hopefully something will fit with the clothes that I already own!

Layer. Could you do jeans and boots, long sleeve t shirt under a short sleeve one, with a nice cardigan over the top? You can then discard the cardi if you're too hot in the pub.

Are you a scarf person? I tend to accessorise every outfit with a scarf from October to April!

How about a wool tunic over leggings with boots? - Wear a nice necklace with it?

A sweater dress and thick patterned tights with heels/flats/boots would look nice.

I was thinking of this sort of thing

Long sleeved silk/wool mix top, knitted dress, super thick tights x 2 and fleece lined boots, then longline cardie and coat, scarf, lether gloves.

That cardi is nice Sitdown. I have one nice scarf but not sure what it will go with!

I went to the Cinema with DH the other night and then out for a meal. I wore dark jeans tucked in to black heeled boots with a mid grey top and a long dark grey boyfriend cardigan over the top. I brightened it up with a yellow floral scarf, a chunky yellow beaded necklace and some wooden bangles. I thought I looked good and I was warm!
