gorge frocks here, based on Holloway Road

theretheyare · 28/11/2010 14:47

Thanks. I know of Vivien's but just can't really justify spending that much on an outfit for one night.

Ooh yes go with bamboo's site, much cheaper.

MouldyMoldie · 28/11/2010 16:17

Ooooh! That site, Bamboo! Fab!

You could also try Cornucopia on Upper Tachbrook Street (just behind Victoria station).

Vintage, so stock varies, but perhaps worth a trip if you want to try things on - and not worry about things arriving through snow.

mippy · 29/11/2010 11:28

Also near Victoria is the Fara Retromania store. V.cheap.

Also, look up 'prom dress' or 'swing dress' on eBay.

Havingkittens · 29/11/2010 13:42

I think Cornucopia has shut down hasn't it?

Lots of good vintage stores around the Brick lane area, and also in Kingley Court off Carnaby St but you may not have the time for that.

A friend of mine has a good online shop which sells great 40s and 50s repro stuff but probably similar prices to Viv's. Although she does have a few sale items from time to time. pinup-parade.com/shop/index.htm

onimolap · 30/11/2010 10:17

Perhaps it's not called Coruncopia any more, but there was a vintage clothing shop on the same site last time I walked past (August).

Thanks for all the tips. In the end I bought a dress from Collectif in Covent Garden. And it was an absolute bargain at £20!
