Need party shoes - comfortable AND glam

I have a few Christmas / New Year events this year and have splashed out on this dress
www.mintvelvet.co.uk/black-assymetric-bandage//mint-v/fcp-product/515?colour=black

I love the dress but the problem is footwear. I am a non-glamorous type and truly can't walk, never mind dance in stilettos or strappy sandals. I have a tendancy to opt for comfort over glamour (last year I went with t-bar patent shoes with a medium heel but they were very M&S IYSWIM - unsurprisingly since that's where I bought them) but I don't want to spoil the look of my lovely dress. I'd love to find a pair of shoes that look gorgeous but don't cripple me. Do they exist????

I'm shoe size 39 and budget is up to £40.

nice dress
not sure about comfort but what about a bit of a block heel, maybe a little more comfortable than stilleto
or something like a shoeboot for an edgy look

AgnesG · 28/11/2010 18:05

Thanks. Think I might have to try the block heel in real life they look very high to me as a high heel virgin so to speak ;-) I have a New Look near me so will try to get in and try them on.

The shoeboot is also a good idea but those are a bit over budget...

that is a gorgeous dress, no idea about shoes, sorry!

slightly cheaper shoeboot
good idea to go in and try on heels.

You could also get a pair of those gel filled pads you put into high heels, think they called party shoes or party feet

Clure · 28/11/2010 18:44

just found these as an alternative

I never thought I'd say this, but I have been converted to M&S shoes, they really are comfy and glamorous.

I just bought some lovely shoe boots from there

Househunter · 28/11/2010 21:00

These are M&S and very comfortable. They are wide fitting but my feet are narrow and they fit fine.

AgnesG · 28/11/2010 21:23

AM loving those last ones (though am afraid this is just chanelling the M&S girl in me!) Will try to get out tomorrow to sally around M&S, New Look and DP and try them on at leisure. 2yo in tow. Ha who am I kidding!!

Got some lovely high black shoes in Next last Xmas.

I struggle to walk (or even stand up) in heels, but they had soft insoles and an ankle strap to keep them on my feet.

i have thes from clarks
they are really really comfy as they aren't too high and have a lovely cushioned sole.
the red or leopard print would look fab with that dress
