Help me look glam on a long haul flight

Need help to look glam on a direct flight to Thailand, what do I need and what do any wear any suggestions as at a loss. It is a night-time flight and arrive in Bangkok at 3.30 pm their time.

Why on earth do you need to look glam?!!!

The main consideration for these flights is comfort.

One would have to wonder why?! It's a night flight! Have been through Bangkok this month and there are loads of bathrooms in the airport. Dress for comfort overnight, change in the bathroom, add some slap, do hair and teeth and off you go. Easy!

The only consideration is to be comfortable....

hard to look glamorous on the flight. If you wear a lot of make-up, it'll get smeared. Wear something simple and unfussy and comfortable and then go to the bathroom to freshen up before you land. If you want change at the airport?

Agree with others. Light make-up. Clean, comfortable clothes. Change at airport if absolutely necessary.

Light cotton/linen trousers with a wide leg and a yoga type waist.

A vest top with a shirt over the top and a waterfall cardigan for the flight.

Ballet flats.

Make up off for the flight or mineral make up only. Refresh mineral make up before landing.

4711 cologne stick or wipes.

just wanted to look ok and not a wreck glam was probably the wrong word, its been a hard year with me being treated for bowel cancer and my DP has treated me to a holiday in Thailand now that I am on the mend,

was trying to decide what to wear was thinking either leggings or linen trousers want to be comfortable more that anything because my tummy does still get bloated. Not bothered about make up just like my hair to be nice. Was really just wondering what to take with me in my hand luggage.

I am off to Maldives in January to celebrate the big 4-0. I had also been worrying about what to wear as we have a night flight but arrive 12.30 local time. My tummy and ankles have a tendency to bloat during travel. I have decided to go for jersey maxi dress. This side of the journey, I will layer with leggings, uggs, (cashmere socks for during flight), long sleeve tee and either cardigown (see Hush) or wool wrap. That way, when arrive, I can ditch tee, leggings and uggs. Slip on flip flops and arrive at resort feeling fab and resort appropriate.

Congrats/good luck in getting through the bowel cancer appleslice, my friend had that a couple of years ago and it was so hard seeing her dealing with it, two years on she is doing brilliantly.

I can't help you on the glam front really (I am not), but I would consider tying my hair back for the flight, in a very loose braid or bun (my hair stays fresher for longer that way because I am not touching it) then you could loosen it out when you arrive. I would consider taking extra moisturiser, and using it through the flight, no/minimal make up until you arrive.

The cabin gets cramped and stuffy. Yoga pants are comfy... The sweaty Betty style loungewear is dead comfy and good fabrics for non creasing and temp control. I longer empire style top covers a multitude.
Linen is shit to travel in as it creases.

that sounds great a maxi dress will dig mine out and will have a look in town tomorrow for a top to go with my leggings, after being ill just seem to have lost my way abit with what to wear etc

I think tulpe has some good advice re layering, leggings and a tunic/dress something like this with warm socks/leg warmers/wrap cardi type thing.

appleslice you are very welcome. Had my own brush with cancer last year and the memory is still as fresh. I understand you want to just feel normal and nice rather than "Victoria Beckham arrives at LAX" :o

I figured I wanted to be warm en route but also not frumpy.

Don't worry about matching tee and leggings as hopefully leggings not visible beneath maxi :)

no def not VB I would be more a peppa pig but want to be a bit stylish

Ah! Now I understand you.

My best advice would be to take something soft and comfortable to wear on the flight, with something non-creasing that you can carry in your hand luggage, to change into on arrival.

Quantas First Class and Virgin Upper Class provide sleepsuits for this very purpose - but if you're not travelling either class/are travelling in economy you can do the same by taking a lightweight tracksuit type of thing to wear during the flight.

Taking a change of underwear will also help enormously.

Cashmere jersey clothes, no make-up but impeccable hair and nails, a glamorous eye mask and neck pillow (try Lisbeth Dahl). Thick cashmere socks for the plane, shoes with velcro fastenings for the airport. Large shades and a bright shawl for when you get off the plane.
