Mitten clips or elastic thread?

Which work better - the clips to attach mittens to the sleeves of a baby's coat, or attached to elastic through the arms?

DS is 11 m.o.

We'll prob use elastic - interested in the clips though.

I think the clips would be something else for DS to fiddle with tbh, though never used them. I have had JOJO maman bebe mittens and cots where they have the little bits in to attach mittens to coats and they wirked fine though. The clips always look big to me?
