My eyebrows are thin and fair too. When I had them shaped I also had them tinted. Was AMAZING. Made me look subtly different - loads of people commented on how great I looked but no-one could work out what had changed. was a bit scary when she first did it though - I had to get her to lighten it. Too frieda kahlo at first.

Used to love wearing pillar box red lipstick in my twenties and early thirties (a la Paloma Picasso), but feel too old to get away with it now.

frannyf · 22/09/2005 13:02

Yes I had mine tinted and it looked horrific. Had to pluck even more away to take off the wolf-lady effect.

puff · 22/09/2005 13:02

Anyone tried those eyebrow shape transfers? You can have Kylie's or Liz Hurley's etc. They are really good!

suzywong · 22/09/2005 13:03

I slapped on some of that very stuff for my birthday party, did I mention is was my birthday btw, and got lots of compliments. Or maybe it was utter shock at the sheer mutton-ness of it and the Aussies are very polite

frannyf · 22/09/2005 13:04

My problem is I have got bald patches so I have to fill in the gaps! Constantly looking for a product that looks natural. I keep being tempted by the BeneFit Browzings but the shades are quite dark...

harpsichordcarrier · 22/09/2005 13:05

mascara (mac is the best imho) and shadow if I'm going out
eye liner for special occasions, the one where you lick the brush and draw a line with a little >kick< at the end
makes me lok like cleopatra, in the right light

frannyf · 22/09/2005 13:07

Lick the brush?? Euuuugh!

frannyf · 22/09/2005 15:31

Cod, thanks I will try that.

HC - spit in the mascara??? What is this twisted obsession with body fluids and make up?!

lou33 · 22/09/2005 17:02

Mascara and liquid eyeliner on the top lids only , and lippy. Hardly ever wear eyeshadow, maybe twice a year.

harpsichordcarrier · 22/09/2005 17:51

in the olden days mascara didn't come in a tube (not the ones from Boots anyhow) it was a block and a brush. you had to spit and rub...
god, please tell me I am not the only one who remembers this?

I have trowel syndrome

full face thick coverage - at least an inch - its the only way

crunchie · 22/09/2005 18:51

Eyes for sure

Either bright royal blue, or a fab emerald green. Applied in thick line above (as heavy as poss!!) and a smudge beneath Loads of blac mascara

Plus Mac pout lip glass or other nudish gloss.

BTW this is v v trendy and the ONLY way to wear eyeshadow.

Don't do nude/brown or natural shades

crunchie · 22/09/2005 18:52

PS and my hair is bright red

lou33 · 22/09/2005 19:39

I remember block mascara

puff · 22/09/2005 20:46

Oh yes, block mascara - I had some (I am 40).

hoxtonchick · 22/09/2005 20:55

crunchie that sounds amazing.

i am definitely an eyes person, often don't bother with lippy or go for very neutral.

i'm still in shock after the woman in front of me at the mac counter today spent £185 . and there was i feeling extravagent for getting an £8 nailpolish...

JoolsToo · 22/09/2005 21:25

women used to spit in block mascara then rub the brush like billy-o
