How to protect boots?

Hi all

I hope you don't mind me asking about your shoe/boot care regimes!

I bought these boots at the weekend. Normally I don't do anything to protect my shoes / boots but am not sure whether I should.

Should I? If so, what should I use?

I use Timberland boot sauce in neutral but think I should probably be using the protector for waterproofing. It makes me feel better to at least put someting on my boots before I go out in the rain!
