Hi S&B guru's.

I have no clue about shoes and have exhausted myself looking on tinternet.

I am going to a wedding next week. I've got a navy dress with silver flowers on it. Unfortunately I can't link to it - it was a TK Maxx one with an American designer and I can't find it online. It's a kind of 50's style though - thickish straps, fitted to waist then fuller skirt.

Anyway - I'm thinkink navy shoes or silver, but further than that, I'm stuck! Do starppy sandaly shoes go with that whole 50's / Bree from desperates look? Or do I need court shoes (just learnt what they are Grin. Or some other mythical shoe? Also I don't want to tower over my husband so nothing too giraffe esque.

Please help!

I'll try and find a dress like mine to link too.

Will you have bare legs? I would be cautious about open-toed shoes if you want to wear tights.

There are lots of sparkly silver shoes in the shops at the moment because of Christmas (try to avoid too much frippery though, the dress sounds quite busy) - I think that the kind of dress shape you're describing is pretty forgiving, it would go with a delicate strappy shoe, or a court shoe (personally I'd avoid a heel that was too chunky though), OR a flat ballerina style pump.

Flat ballerinas look good with the 50's look but only if you have the legs to carry them off. Don't wear them if you've got cankles or too chunky calves.

Thanks so much for replies! Yes bare legs I think. Aquavit - you clearly know your stuff! I borrowed some navy shoes that have a very clunky heel from a friend and they didn't suit at all! Hmmmmmmmmmmm don't tempt me down the ballerina pump route though - I'm a sucker for a flat shoe! I'm forcing myself to get some heels!

Notinmypocket - ha ha no not got cankles - (yet!!)legs probably best feature. Still might try heels tho - thanks for good advice!!

I think with shoes (esp heels) it's really best to go and try them on but here are some ideas:

love these but colour might not go with dress?

cute! (too cute?) I adore them

with purple bit

safe

Ooh loving all of them but the first ones in particular. Next step - to get me to a show shop! Thanks!

Navy or silver, best not to introduce another colour. Also go for a heel unless you are tall and can carry off flats. Consider a court shoe over a strappy open toe, think if you are walking outside, on grass etc. Enjoy!
