Tried this ( Japura Beaded Silk Georgette Dress at £150)
on today in monsoon and it looked fab, but not to sure if it is too much. for me it is sedate, being a fan of all things glitzy.

How would you accessorize it, already have a hand bag and a georgette dress coat to go over it to get to the church if it is freezing. Would you wear a hat or one of those comb/ headbands? Shoes or brown boots?

It is on the third page of the dresses section in womenswear (just dresses not occassionwear) blnkin Monsson links not behaving as they should!

I'd go with some v plain shoes and something in your hair that's not too fussy, but picks out an accent colour in the dress.

Nbg · 20/09/2005 15:37

It's gorgeous.

I would deffo say shoes not boots and possibly a hair piece rather than a hat.
I would maybe go for a glitzy necklet as well.

Brown boots and some kind of long coat with fur (fake of course) trim collar?

Is it black? Not sure of black for a wedding myself.

Lizzylou · 20/09/2005 15:41

It's gorgeous! Wish I had £150 and had somewhere to wear it to...oh, and wasn't pregnant!

Bozza · 20/09/2005 15:45

Would say shoes rather than boots (which would too heavy IMO) and a hair piece/smallish hat.

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 15:56

oliveoil it is chocolate brown.

WE are going to both church and evening do, the dress is just below the knee.

lovely then . Shoes rather than boots. Not sure on hair piece or hat, maybe have your hair all swooshed up in a nice chic style (if you have long hair that is).

But I don't do hats, I just have my hair done at the hairdressers so it is shiny instead of frizzy.

Off home now, will be back tmrw.

xx

I really like it Twinset - could you get away with a glitzy necklace (seeing as you're a fan of glitzy )?

It's difficult to tell from the pic how much detail and pattern is in the dress - what colours apart from choc brown are in it?

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 16:01

The boots I Have are the stretchy ones like this I thoght it might make the outfit more daytime, amybe swap for a pair of shoes for the night time do.

lol Twinset !

I like the boots - just not sure about wearing boots to a wedding - however, if it's freezing it might be wise!

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 16:09

I have a pair of brown leather wedges but my feel will be freezing as they are open toed. have some camel/gold shoes but they are a bit big!

Gorgeous, and for a winter wedding I think the boots would be perfect
Simple jewels, just earrings, and a gorgeous bag

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 17:29

Thanks spykid, I have the boots so can try them on. Am a bit distracted at the moment as have decided to dress up as a Grand duchess ala Marie Antoinette this weekend and am struggling to find something!

Right have riased enough money for the dress and want to get shoes to match, any suggestions. the dress is chocolate brown with gold and amber in the detail.

I have short legs so can't wear a strap across the ankle.

How about these bronze retro sandals (in the middle on the left hand side of the left page)

crunchie · 12/10/2005 09:26

Love the dress the shoes are fab, depends when the wedding is. I would go with tight strechy brown boots in the day and those fab sandals for evening. But ever practical, will you wear them again?

twinsetandpearls · 12/10/2005 11:30

I saw those but I don't like my feet so rarely wear open toed sandals.

Have stretchy boots, just need a reheel so that isn;t a problem. What about the brown velvet jewelled court shoes, or will they be too much? dd saw these in next the other day and shouted with much excitement

"Look mummy shoes with diamaonds!"

OP posts:
Carmenere · 12/10/2005 11:32

I vote for the brown velvet shoes, they are lovely

JonesTheScream · 12/10/2005 12:46

If you mean the ones on the opposite page - think they're great and will look fab.
