Shoes or boots for party conundrum...

I have a party to go to in a couple of weeks - there isn't really a dress code but it is a 40th in a lovely barn conversion restaurant so I think most of the ladies will be wearing dresses. I have got a Monsoon wrap style dress which has 3/4 sleeves and is mid-grey with a navy and bright red daisy pattern all over in drapey jersey fabric.

I am happy with the dress, but I am not sure what to wear with it, my main problem being a couple of hideous and obvious rub-marks on my legs from riding (my fault for wearing jeans to school in). So sheer stockings arn't really an option and the only shoes I have seen that I like have peep-toes and I have never been happy with the peep-toe-and-stockings option anyway.

So, would a pair of long boots be out of the question? I have seen a velvet pair on Next: www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/shoesandboots/42/6 which are in budget. What do you think, or do I need to just put loads of concealer on my legs and wear party shoes?

Do you think it will look dressy enough with boots?

I think that sounds great. I love dresses and boots together.

Thanks! I'm off to order those boots...

Ooooh I'd go for opaques and shoeboots as I think those pull on boots are a tiny bit Kate Middleton.
