What goes with emerald green?

Bought an emerald green coloured dress - what colours will go with it? (for a cardi/tights) Charcoal? Another shade of green? Or shall I just take it back as it seems impossible to accessorise? Confused

purple.

Can you post a pic of the dress, love green dresses

Sanesometimes1 · 11/11/2010 21:18

flesh coloured tights wd be best I think, silver or grey cardi wd look good too. x

HeadFairy · 11/11/2010 21:19

depends on the dress... other jewel colours?

Dando · 11/11/2010 21:19

You could do tonal and go for blue?

MrsKitty · 11/11/2010 21:25

Purple - really? Actually, I can see how that might work, just not sure I could carry it off

pic here - first ever Boden purchase - got it cheap cheap at a clothes swap thingy, and whilst I recognise it's technically a summer dress, I love the colour, and I'm wondering if I could get away with it during winter with cardi...Or not?

It's really lovely but linen is best for summer only.

HeadFairy · 11/11/2010 21:31

Turquoise would work really well with that dress. It depends what time of year you were going to wear it and what accessories you were looking for. If it was a summer dress (ie no coat etc required) then I'd say nude coloured shoes would look good with a turquoise cardy. No need to eb too matchy matchy.

One of those muted dusky rose pinks might look nice with emerald.

MrsKitty · 11/11/2010 21:36

driving hmmm, I had a feeling that might be the case. Kind of know that but have been trying to pretend otherwise Wink. Sigh... I shall keep it in my wardrobe in case my diet goes wrong and I'm still this size come April Smile.

I've seen dark green and purple together - really nice!

Havingkittens · 11/11/2010 22:15

Most shades of pink look fantastic with emerald green, especially bright shades.

Granny23 · 11/11/2010 22:19

Emerald Green? It has to be silver for shrug and shoes.

fin42 · 11/11/2010 22:20

A pale grey might be nice perhaps with these.
TBH much as I love some of the Boden colours I do find them quite hard to wear with other brands.
The colour of that dress is lovely but might be better suited to the summer months.

autumnberry · 11/11/2010 22:20

Navy blue

shodatin · 11/11/2010 23:45

Agree - I usually use navy; it's so easy

MrsKitty · 12/11/2010 21:51

Thanks everyone - filing these suggestions away for the spring - you're right, it's just not a winter dress, and can't really be turned into one Sad.

Really like the idea of green/purple the more I think about it. Keen to introduce more colour into my wardrobe (rather than all the blacks & browns in there currently).
