Mulberry bags for the inexperienced shopper

Hi,

I have always wanted a Mulberry handbag and my very dh has said I can have one for Christmas.

I've always liked the look of the Bayswater but is that old-hat now? I also like the Alexa too.
Do they come in different sizes, I don't need a huge bag!

Sorry if this all sounds daft. I don't get out much!

Wink

The daria satchel is crossbody and gorgeous..........

You will often see unusual leathers/colours at a sample sale. Another word of warning- be careful that you don't accidentally buy a pretty delicate leather (like nappa) if you want a bag for robust, everyday use.

They definitely have Alexa's in the Bicester shop on ocassion but I don't know the discount.

I am in love with the daria satchel.....

It is really versatile too given that you can shorten the strap to wear it on your shoulder as well as the cross body option. Makes it more useable and thus better value! Wink

Hi ladies, can I jet check - how do you know the sample sale is legitimate?

I have a situation at the moment where a friend of a friend said her mum went to sample sales and got me and a couple of others a new mulberry each, when they arrived, after a good look I knew they were fakes, I already have the hobo and could tell by looking at the printing of the logo on the buckles..

How does one get invited to the sample sales and what is the protocol in buying while you are there, can you buy multiples, how much do you generally pay - would be good to know to find out if we were knowingly duped??

Well just got back from the sale. It was above a Mulberry shop so was definitely kosher.

When we got there it was a complete scrum and my dh got cross at a woman who had about 7 bags! There was no restriction on how many you could buy and some women were going crazy, buying bags just because they were Mulberry and not whether they actually liked the colour or style.

I didn't see any Alexas but they had Bayswaters although I didn't like the colours. They had them in pebble and also in a dark grey colour. I also found them quite big for what I wanted.

I ummed and ahhed over a Ledbury and an East West Bayswater in a lovely chocolate colour. In the end I got the East West Bays.

I absolutely love it. It was £385 instead of £550 and it's gorgeous.

Thanks for all the advice.

Mumof2landj A friend of mine has been going to this sample sale for ages and forwarded me an invite. It was strictly invitation only. The sample sale was above a Mulberry shop in New Bond Street and it was definitely not a scam, all the merchandise was real.
There wasn't a limit on what you could buy and some women seemed to have a lot but perhaps they were selling them on ebay I don't know. I got £165 off my bay. They had Bayswaters for £450 and the Ledbury I almost bought was £315.

Does that help?
