Invited to evening part of wedding can I wear a black dress???

If I was going for the whole day I wouldn't wear a black dress to a wedding but am wondering if acceptable for the evening do that starts at 7pm. If not I will have to buy something which I'd rather not have to do.

I am sure if you style it with coloured accessories it would be fine. Maybe a bright pashmina or shrug.

Ooh a coloured pashmina is a good idea! I do need new shoes so maybe get something that's not plain black

It's more party dress than funeral dress but didn't want to make some huge social faux pas!

I wore a black dress to my brother's wedding - but then I loathe him and my now SIL so tbh it felt more like a funeral than a wedding.
