then what shops do you go to for going out clothes?

I always wear casual but relatively smart clothes and am facing a christmas party season with only wool dresses, jeans, tunics and leggings! I want to buy some new things but can only seem to find uber glam dresses etc that aren't really me. Any ideas of shops to try?!

maybe go for a very plain LBD and add accessories that make it more your style

EldonAve · 05/11/2010 21:31

kew, hobbs, lk bennett

myalias · 05/11/2010 21:34

Warehouse and Oasis for going out clothes.

christmasmum · 05/11/2010 21:38

Right, am going to have to dust off the credit card! I live in quite a small town so only have oasis as an option for my first party tomorrow, but will look at the others online. Like the LBD option, I do have a dress from a while back but it's a bit, well, let's just say 'clingy' these days!!

Monsoon, Coast (if I'm feeling flush)

QueeferSutherBANG · 05/11/2010 22:14

Hmm, possibly monsoon, yes.
And Oasis.

I too have this predicament.Smile

Last going out dress was from Asos. I don't want to spend a lot, as I rarely go out.

Oh, and we don't say "clingy". It's body-con, dontch know.Wink

I like some Fat Face not white stuff. But anyway. Going out stuff I like Ted Baker. Sometimes Reiss.

chimchar · 06/11/2010 09:18

I love Phase Eight and Monsoon.

I would get a few sparkly things that you can add to current wardrobe rather than looking for entirely new sets of clothes. TopShop, New Look, Miss Selfridge are great for this sort of thing.

I've just got a fab wide sequined belt from New Look for a fiver that makes my knitted dresses look gorgeous, esp if I replace day boots with heels and leggings with opaques.

Have also got a sequined vest (Miss S from last year, I think - inexpensive anyway) that I tart up skinny jeans with (again replace footwear with something more fabulous) - I know that the 'fancy top and jeans and heels' thing is a bit passe but frankly, I still like it.

christmasmum · 06/11/2010 18:21

I live in the depths of Scotland, we have only just caught onto the jeans and vest up here!

Good call on the belt, will go and look in New Look tomorrow. Just wish I could wear fab shoes like I used to, but have dodgy foot and can only hobble in heels, doesn't really go with the sexy image I'm trying to convey :)

Mint Velvet seems to me like a grown up version of White Stuff.
