Help to find dress for Black Tie Event

Please help me find dress for black tie event. Never been to one before. Would prefer to wear black to feel safe.

All ideas welcome - accessories too if anyone has any recommendations.

I'm size 12 5'4"

Coast and Phase 8 have nice dresses. Am off to black tie event tomorrow night but have borrowed a dress.

Would you be happy to wear knee length cocktail dress or full length?

Have you been to black tie events before? I would prefer to wear a knee length dress but unsure if everyone will be wearing long dresses.

Think I will try some long dresses on though coz I might really suit them and never had the opportunity to wear an evening dress before.

There was a thread recently about a dress for a black tie event where the general consensus was that knee length cocktail dresses are absolutely fine

love the paloma dress will have to remember to try in on when i go shopping at the weekend. just hope it looks nice on me.

I'll probably buy it then worry about my legs and whether i should wear tights or attempt false tan.

Then there's the shoes ...

i ordered online yesterday, free next day delivery, was on my desk by 1pm. Its beautiful, really flattering, thick material, structured? I'm 5"2 and a 12 with a wobbly tummy but good boobs. It comes just past knee?
