So many clothes, so little to wear...

I go through period when I obsess about clothes a bit - probably to take my mind off other things that are stressful but that I have no control over...

In any case, I am obsessing about them a bit at the moment. I seem to have lots of nice clothes - some good brands - but when I think about the things that I actually want to wear and feel really good in, I would say that would be only about 20% of the things that I own or maybe even less. And this is after a good declutter.

At the moment, all my dresses seem too long, the trousers the wrong shape, the shoes not sufficiently "on trend". This is very annoying, given that I do spend a bit of money on clothes.

Is anyone the same? Maybe I am striving for unrealistic perfection.

I think part of my problem is that I am in my 30s and don't want to look dowdy.

Are you happy with your clothes?

Come on ladies, I need some reassurance !!

Otherwise I will take 95% of my clothes to a clothing bin tonight, work out in the morning that I have nothing to wear, spend all my savings on lots of new clothes, and then realise once again that I have nothing I want to wear !!! Grin

Nope - I have about six items that I wear over and over again. And I still feel fat and horrible nearly all the time (am size 12).

The thing is, I see other people and can tell why something looks good or bad but on myself (and even though I read a lot about clothes, am really interested etc) everything seems to look scruffy.

Don't care about being 'on-trend' really but would occasionally like to look like I'm 'on planet human' rather than looking like a deranged scarecrow.

everything - I have already done that to an extent... I am quite petite, so need to get a lot of stuff altered - trousers taken up, etc. And I actually know what colours and shapes suit me, but I still make mistakes...

Maybe I need to put some things away for a while, and do as you suggest - work out some outfits that I like and stick to those.

Belligerent - I know exactly what you mean - I am always admiring other people and wishing I could looks as good...
