Messenger bag for my dh!

My dh is the opposite of fashion conscious, he pretty much doesn't care what he wears, in fact, he prefers to blend with the background than to wear anything that might attract some comments (specially positive!!). He does not wear accessories, does not groom himself apart from the basics (little hair gel) and detests wearing expensive brands or any clothing showing the logo/brand of the designer or the store it came from. The idea of a man bag is ludicrous to him but I still think I know best. Soooooooooooo, I am planning on getting him a messenger bag for Christmas. I don't want to spend more than £50 on it because I know he'll only use it a few times a year, I don't mind if it's leather or canvas as long as it is very well made, practical, durable, smart and casual (dh is 35), oh! and it does not show any logos.
A while ago a read a thread here regarding inexpensive leather saddle bags and a couple of people came back with websites that sold excellent leather goods without logos. Does anyone know what websites I'm referring to, or any other that might sell what I'm after? Thank you!

Notanother - that sounds suspiciously like my dh Hmm. I too suggested a man-bag to carry some baby essentials in when he takes the dds out. It was not taken very seriously and I imagine he would just laugh if I got him one for Christmas and never use it (like many of the clothes I've bought him in the past that may have Shock drawn attention to him).

Do you think he would wear it?

You can get Visconti leather messenger bags through Amazon, good quality leather at good prices. Thats if he would actually use it.

Debenhems always do nice ones. The Duffer ones are nice. DB has one.

The Visconti ones look very nice, only I'd like to spend a little less because he might not use them more than four times a year (but I do think he'll use them at least that much!Grin)

M&S have a few, this leather one is a good price

My DH bought himself
this bag from an outdoor shop recently (albeit in a different design). Is a good size for baby crap when he has the kids plus he now uses it to take his sarnies to work in. He'd also never have got a man bag before!

cheesey, that's WAY too much detail for my dh!!!!

Scaramanga! Google it, they are excellent bags Grin

HMV do a £2 bag for life that is basically a record/messenger bag. Might be a less appalling concept to him and you could slip an HMV giftcard in it so he could go be a teenager in there.

Scaramanga... NICE!
