Tucking Jeans Into Boots?

I am going to buy a pair of knee length boots(when I have worked out how to pay for them)and was wondering if this looks really dated??
If I am only wearing them with skirts it makes them even less of a necessary buy as I hardly ever wear skirts.
Any opinions ??

I tuck them into knee length boots, but it depends on the boots. . .they'd have to be quite funky boots (yet not OTT) else you might get a bit of a horse riding look going. But I don't think it's dated. . .I think things are heading more & more that way, actually. . .not that I'm convinced it's the best look in the world, but I'm sort of intrigued/interested by it. Best to use skinny jeans for that purpose though, IMHO.
