I think its like a tattoo of pigment, I want it doing but a bit worried about how to find the right person to do it.

I've had semi permanent eyeliner that lasts 2-3 years if that's any use. I love it - I never thought I'd be the sort of person to have it done, but I was in the salon for something else and saw a lady come out who'd just had her upper and lower eyelids and her eyebrows done and looked amazing.

I love it, but I'd suggest that you really need to know that your practitioner knows what they're doing. If possible, ask to come in when a client is due to finish their appointment so you can see what their work's like. Also be aware that you can look a bit bruised for a couple of days afterwards - don't have it done just before a big event.

If you're anywhere near Hull, I'd thoroughly recommend Janet at Lloyds.

oh thanks. I am in exeter in devon. I spoke to a lady over the phone and she was reasuring. She said she will send me a patch test to do through the post. She said she would watch me put my eye liner on to see how i liked it. She does the main bit in the first appointment, and then you go back a fortnight later and she will change bits you arent happy with or make it darker. I am tempted to make the appointment.

I would recommend only using someone who, in addition to being a technician in the application of semi permanent make up also has a background as a make up artist. And a bloody good one at that!

I know of two people that I can recommend who are both very good make up artists

this girl in London

or

or this girl in Wimborne, Dorset

If neither of these are particularly convenient to you I would recommend asking to see a make up portfolio of whoever you make enquiries with. I have had clients come to me with terrible semi permanent make up and they are stuck with it for up to 5 years. Awful looking harsh eyeliner which doesn't suit them or wonky brows. Really not worth the risk! Better to put your make up on every day and have it look how you want it or be able to change it than have something that just looks hideous for years. Also, bear in mind your age. Would what you have in mind for now still suit you in 4 years time? If you are going for liner, I would recommend avoiding black and go for something a little softer.

Thanks, I could get to Dorset actually, I really needed a recommendation. What do you do?

I'm a make up artist. Both people i mentioned are ex colleagues and are both great make up artists.

sorry that sounded blunt, just curious about your background and what sort of clients you have.

I was impressed by the London ones web site

She is very good. She does great brows too, ones that look more like natural brows that drag queen brows if you know what I mean! I mean, there is a place for both. I for example like mine very defined in a 40s/50s way but that's not for everyone.

Don't worry, you didn't come across blunt at all. I have all sorts of different clients, actors, models, brides, celebrities, bands, all across the board really. It's generally the clients who are members of the public that I've come across with dodgy semi permanent make up.
