Brazillian Wax

I have just booked my 1st ever Brazillian wax for next Thursday evening.

I am 38 and never had one before and feel a bit of a pratt asking [blush, but as I have recently lost over 4 stone and am now swimming hell of alot decided I need some serious bush admin.

So - what do I need to know?

Do I need to trim my au naturel lady garden so my hair is not quite so long or do I just turn up with it in its full untended glory? I do shave the bikini area anyway but I am talking about the less tended "middle" area.

How much does it hurt? Should I stop off in the pub enroute for a glass of something strong? Will I be OK to wear trousers (looseish tailored ones) to work the next day?

I do get my upper legs waxed reguarly and have had my bikini line done before so am not a complete waxing novice - but could do with some tips and info from any experience Brazillian waxees/waxers out there.

Congrats on the weight loss :)

It does hurt the first time - take a couple of ibuprofen - the next few times its much easier.

If its all a bit unruly I'd trim to about 5mm as then all the hair will come out a lot neater.

Trousers will be fine the next day - tbh the discomfort will be gone within 30 mins for the first time.

They'll also be waxing around your bottom so be prepared for full exposure :o

The first few times I went I took ibuprofen half an hour before with a glass of wine Grin - worked a treat.

I was also really naive and didn't know if I should just strip off my knickers or pull them aside - strip off was the answer there. Also, don't leave it too long before your next one...I have the bad habit of leaving it a few months and then it hurts just as much all over again

If it's done with hot wax (and not the week before your period or any other sensitive time) it should not hurt at all. Take ibuprofen if worried though - it can't hurt.

Trousers home from waxer fine - even more so the next day.

All waxers I have been to trim before they wax. But the first time, I was quite unruly and the beautician noted it which was quite embarrassing. So I always trim down a bit now - DO NOT go too low however (5mm at minimum) as you will not get a clean wax if it is too short.

Be prepared to cross your ankles and lift your bum!

Also be prepared for ingrown hairs. Make sure you have something to use to minimise ingrown hairs afterwards - the beautician should have something to sell you or buy from Boots.

Hello :)

I have a beauty salon & do a lot of intimate waxing.

My top tip, run your clippers, or trim, over the entire area to be waxed as mentioned above - this will make the wax much more comfortable.

You've experienced waxing before so you have some idea how this will feel. It's not the most relaxing treatment to have done but it is over fairly quickly & once the area has calmed down, it will feel really good.

Wear some old knickers. Some places will offer you paper ones to wear, other places will ask you to remove underwear & offer you a towel.

You will be fine - if it was that terrible, I wouldn't have a job ;)
