Trousers that sit ON the waist...... not below!!!!!

I need work trousers and jeans that actually have a waist line! All trousers now seem to sit below the waist (not hipster style, jeee-ust below the waist).

Now thats all very well and good.... but what if you don't have a waist and it just hangs over the "just below the waistline" styles!?????

I have asked in Next and they managed to point out ONE pair of jeans that says on the label "Sits on the waistline".... but I went into a different Next store and asked about trousers and the girl looked at me like I was daft. Then she said "Why don't you just try them all on?"... Errrr coz I don't have 4 hours!

Anybody know any shops that stock a range of trousers that actually fastened at the waistline!?

Pleeeeeeeeease?

Cod - Does it really matter what tops I wear though, I wear lots of different types from shirts to t-shirts.... I have NO waistline since having dd..... and if I wear trousers that sit below my waist I look like I have no shape whatsoever. I need trousers that come in at the waist..... instead of making my thick waistband look even worse!

I think you have to find some nice'old lady' ones eg drawstring/elasticated waists and then make sure you have tops long enough to cover the hideous top bit.

colditz · 15/09/2005 12:18

I don't wear trousers that sit below the waist because I would get "Muffin belly"

zippitippitoes · 15/09/2005 12:20

I have a pair of trousers from next bought a few weeks ago, they are dark aubergine with a tiny broken almost invisible stripe effect (can't really see it) and very comfortable ..I thought they were old lady ish but daughters said not

Also jeans from per una sit on waist

TracyK · 15/09/2005 12:27

You should be able to tell by the length of the zip if it's low in the waist.

flippin hipsters annoy the hell out of me too - SUCH bad design (unless you're a size 8 teenager)
I' was lucky last week and found on the waist jeans in a shop that was closing down - reduced from 99€ to 40€ - bargain - never heard of the brand before, it's called 'Caroche'

Aragon · 15/09/2005 12:31

....and while we're at it - some tops which don't all end at the waist or high hip would be good as well. Bloody sick of all the tiny, mini, micro tops you get now - hides no sins whatsoever. Have been driven to shopping in "old lady" catalogues for decent cut tops. Thankfully they appear to have woken up to the fact that many people are doing this and have widened their range accordingly.

limited collection in M+S have a good range -- in fact M+S have good work trousers in stock at moment...

MrsSpoon · 15/09/2005 12:37

Mentioned on another thread I bought black slouch trousers from Next recently. They are not low waisted and are sturdy enough round the tummy area so that you don't see every lump and bump, I really like them. Also being "slouch" they are a bit of a change from bootleg, hang really nice, work well with heels.

Do you want jeans/more formal ? Boden (think mumsnetters get a discount) def do "natural" waist trs. I'm with you - I much prefer them (and am as a result wearing jeans which are about 10 years old !!!!!!)

Toothache · 15/09/2005 14:07

OI TraceyK - They are not old lady trousers!!! I'm not looking for 'drawstring' or even an elasticated waist. Sorry if I came across that way..... but I'm only 27.... and I'm only a 14/16.... but would like a waist.

I did get a pair of pink jeans like that from Next that were so flattering and felt great, but they don't have any tailored trousers like that. I've searched and searched and the staff are really not helpful. Think I'll definitely try M&S.

Boden just seems so overly expensive for trousers that I'm going to wear to work. But will have a look and hope to be converted.

Aragon - Right there with you! With the low waist trousers and short tops every time I sit down you can see my thong poking out the top of my trousers!!! Not flattering!!

Def try Marks & Spencer - lots of on the waist options. I refuse to wear trousers/jeans that sit below my waist. Have bought at least 5trousers from their Per Una range over the last couple of years and their jeans too. Don't think they are nasty biddy slacks!

TracyK · 15/09/2005 19:46

sorry toothache - i thought you meant for comfort rather than for flattering! sorry if i offended!
